"You're N7?" Lysander asked.
Lysander just left one hanging right down the middle of the plate, let's see what Fischer does with it!
"Of course I'm N7!" Joe said. "You must not have represented us well, old man, why else would the boss bring me on?"
He made a shooing motion. "Now run along little Eric, adults are talking," he said with a smirk.

Artacus glares at the human known as Joe Fisher, walking to the counter and setting down his duffle bag. He met some people like Joe, mercs that are to full of themselves and then just get killed for their massive egos. "Don't stroke your gigantic ego too much." The turian replied, leaning against the counter with his arms crossed. "You might piss someone off... and i'm already pissed because you're already an annoyance to me." Artacus takes out a rag from his pocket, wiping down the dust off the counter.

Eric folded his arms.
“Oh-ho-hohh,” he chuckled out “’Old man?’ ‘Little Eric?’ Somebody’s confused! If those choppers of yours are real the brain damage you got’s clearly genetic and not blunt force trauma!”
Eric took a seat, setting his duffle bag underneath the stool.
“Well, at least you’re not confused about my looks. And you can dress yourself so you can’t be entirely useless.” Eric looked over Joe’s armor, the adrenaline in his system returning to normal. “Hmmm… T5-V Battlesuit with integrated shoulder missile launcher and frag gauntlet. Augmented with eezo actuators for heavy weapons use. Not much on mobility but can take a good deal of punishment from small arms and ordnance. Probably more than my own armor can… so you’re one of the new breed, puttin’ dinosaurs like me out to pasture…”

Joe looked over at the turian, debating whether to respond, then decided against it. He had worked with them on some joint training exercises, even a couple of missions, and he knew them to be capable fighters but also wound way too tight for his tastes. This one seemed no different; any sort of joke he made would be taken seriously and then they would be at each other's throats, which was a sure way for the mission to go down in flames.
Okay, leave the turian alone. Fuck him if he can't take a joke...
He looked back at Lysander. "Yeah, I can also go to the bathroom myself, and I can walk and chew gum if I concentrate really hard, but I'm still trying to figure out silverware," he said with a wink. "Thank goodness my weapons and armor are simple."
He then looked over at Bridges. "Hey boss man, how many more we waiting on?"

"Speaking of annoyances...", Karn muttered under his breath as he glances over towards the turian. His face, his name, everything rung around in his head, Kalmavius was around him again, much to his misfortune. He rests his hands against the counter once he moves over towards it, his gaze moving to the bartender. After a small, brief conversation, a drink is slid over his way, a thick, almost grey mixture of god knows what.. Whiskey with a bit of rynchol, by a bit he probably mean the whole damn glass. He downs a quarter of the drink, his gaze moving to the rest of the group, more in particular, Esteban. A guy in a suit isn't what you see much of around there.. At least, that's what he assumed as much.
The constant bickering and cocky spouts from the two humans, however, drew his attention. It was enough to make him smirk, showing off like some tough guys forced out a small, almost humored chuckle from his throat.
"You two gonna' keep boastin' about your shit? Keep it goin', you might put me to fuckin' sleep..", his smirk still remaining as he speaks.

Iskra sat in the darkest corner of the bar, silently watching everyone arrive in their own particular flourish. Her black armor helping her blend into the shadows with ease while the hood kept her pale skin hidden in the dark.
Arriving here with Esteban had been nerve wracking, Drell on this side of the galaxy only have the reputation of being the best assassins on the market. Which makes the smart ones fear them and the dumb ones see it as a challenge to overcome.
“That’sss nice armor for thisss ssstation.” The Vorcha in the booth next to her hissed. She figured he was speaking of the man she didn’t recognize that had approached shortly after Maelstrom.
“Surprised he hasn’t been parted with it.” The Krogan grunted.
Iskra continued to watch as more of the old crew showed up. She was unsure if Esteban had asked her to wait in the shadows to watch his back or just because he wanted to keep her out of the way. She wasn’t one to complain, the amount of people here was already making her stomach tie in knots. Not that the information pertained to her anyway but it was nice to listen to the voices talk in her ear piece as they all arrived.

The elder N7 veteran swirled the glass placed in front of him around a bit before taking a drink. Fortunately what was served to him was more palatable than the one before.
"You two gonna' keep boastin' about your shit? Keep it goin', you might put me to fuckin' sleep.."
Eric’s eyes rolled up and over to the krogan seated down the way from him, noting the smirk on his thin, wide lips. He turned, reached behind and patted a small housing containing two disc grenades, smiling.
“Don’t worry, big guy. I got just the thing to wake you up. Probably heard our names but I didn’t get yours...”

"If you're all workin' for the suit over there, guess I have to give you my name.." He gestures his thumb towards Esteban a moment, before downing his glass.
He places it down back onto the counter before folding his arms along his chest. He gives the human a small look over, noting whatever armor and goodies he held onto his person at the time, his smirk just increasing tenfold to his response.
"Name's Karn, hope you got enough bite behind that bark of yours, human..", he chuckles out.

"Oh, I got's bite," said Eric, thinking back to the misadventure he had on the way to the bar. "Name's Eric. Lysander. The Nordic golem over there's Joe Fischer. He's an Alliance N7 like me so he's also packing some major teeth... other than the ones in his head."

Esteban traced the glass rim of his cup with his armored finger, making a satisfying faint scraping sound. He watched the cup, noticing faint glass shavings falling into his stale drink. Dozens of microscopic shards floated perfectly on the undisturbed amber surface. He quickly calculated the surface tension of his beverage, giving a self-satisfied smile. Physics was one of his many hobbies. The science was simple and elegant.
He listened to the rapidly growing team interact, flexing their own unique masculinities to assert dominance over everyone else. The gruff Turian. The angry Krogan. The arrogant and cocky human. The frightening Salarian. He doubted there's been a group like this on Cartegena for centuries, if ever. For a brief moment, he considered paying his team to take the station over. He quickly dismissed the idea, glancing around at the Abyssal Demon. The bar was broken, run down... filthy beyond all recognition. His gaze passed over cracked tables, chairs missing legs, Vorcha missing legs, broken windows, flickering lights, and shambling Asari. There was nothing here worth taking, worth conquering.
"I want to wait a couple more minutes in case we have anyone else showing up," Esteban finally spoke up the moment Eric finished speaking. The businessman glanced around at the powerful cadre, looking impressed with what he saw. "I would offer to buy everyone here a drink, but I've found myself growing to like most of you."

Joe chuckled at his new boss' joke, his respect for him increasing slightly. For him, a sense of humor was just as important as weapons and armor; life often took a turn for the absurd, and you had to either laugh or go crazy; he preferred laughing.
What was that saying, "Matters of great import should be treated lightly," or something like that?
*****
Looking over the team assembled, he realized this was going to be one heck of a mission. One didn't bring this much talent together unless it was something big, and his new boss didn't strike him as the type to press the panic button without good cause. After all, he had made it to this place by himself, hadn't he? He found himself getting as excited as a kid on Christmas morning, eager to open the present Bridges had given them.

As Eric finished his sentence his employer spoke up, surveying the assembly of mercenaries old and new.
"I want to wait a couple more minutes in case we have anyone else showing up… I would offer to buy everyone here a drink, but I've found myself growing to like most of you."
“Awfully decent of you, Mr. B,” Eric toasted before downing the last of his drink. When his head righted he suddenly gasped out and coughed, the aftertaste kicking in. “Damn… the rust gets inta everything ‘round here!”

“Damn… the rust gets inta everything ‘round here!” Lysander said, coughing as his drink went down.
"If that's too strong for you, Lysander, I hear they're serving milk at the kiddie table," Joe said, smirking.

Maelstrom found himself feeling a more uncomfortable than he expected around the new recruits. They all had big mouths, and he was not sure if they were merely attempting to assert their dominance without physical confrontation or if, when push came to shove, they would resort to actual violence in their attempts to be top dog. Not that Maelstrom would be in any threat if it came down to a fight; he suspected the Barce team would rally to defense of one another while the newcomers would be fighting on their own. Even so, he found his trigger finger itching for the comforting feel of his SMG. His off-hand yearned for the feeling of one of his Collector grenades; he was still using his freebies from Barce, having gathered quite a number of them from his downed foes.
For his part, he liked the command structure from Barce. Bridges at the top of the chain but not pulling ranks, while Lysander informally called the shots, allowing everyone a great deal of latitude in making their calls. It kept the team cohesive while allowing each member to play to his or her individual strengths.
And after the several week's he had, Maelstrom was feeling very protective of those close to him. The Barce team was the closest thing to friends he had left in the galaxy. Although, he could not bring himself to feel quite the same about their turian companion. He understood Lysander's reasons for leaving him under the control of the "bugs," but Artacus' stance seemed based purely out of his own curiosity and self-interest. Not at all like the rest of the team. As he scanned the bar again, looking for more new arrivals or potential threats, the two things not being mutually exclusive. Instead, he found the face of a familiar drell hiding in the shadows, visible only because of the filters he earlier applied to his visor, her features artificially highlighted in the gloom. Seeing her there made him smile slightly. His first impulse was to welcome her, though he decided instead to let her come to the fore when she felt ready.

Karn simply shrugged at Lysander, his intentions more on a friendlier level. They were big mouths with big guns, he just wasn't in the mood or position to start a fight, neither was he stupid enough to consider ruining his chances at a decent job. His eyes trailing around the group towards Esteban as he began to talk, then towards the N7 unit. After a quick look over, his view moved to the individual with the more, darker armor. Maelstrom gained his intention pretty quickly, his equipment, his defensive posture.. Everything about him. He seemed like he was ready to put a bullet in anyone if they started any problems, it was enough to make him smirk, and enough to know where his place stood at the present time.
His gaze shifts back to Esteban, his brief moment of humor now ending, with a serious expression now on his face. "Go ahead, bossman..", he grunts out, giving a brief nod.

Murchadh like some of the other mechs was beginning to find the new guy very annoying. He'd never really liked special forces and N7 where the worst of all of them. Just because they had a fancy badge on their shoulder they thought they where somehow better than the rest off them. He'd seen how they tried to act like normal grunts on the front line and most couldn't adapt back to front line work. All the fast tactical raids made you forget how slow and tedious being stuck behind a dug in position waiting for the enemy to shove his head out of his foxhole could be.
He closed his case and turned from the bar to look at the boss and see what he had to say.

Meldom found himself smiling at Estebans comment as he just finished drinking his own drink and looking at the empty glass "Not that you would want to pay anyways" he said with a mischievous grin, with a few taps on his omnitool his tactical cloak slowly enveloped him till nothing was there after a few moments he rematerialised with another glass that was full.
"Sure they would rip you off here anyways, i should know, have my own tab here i still need to pay off.. Still the good thing about this place is if it is poison, you can be sure the guy who wants you dead is also in the bar" he chuckled lightly before taking a small sip of his drink.

Esteban leaned back in his chair, smelling the rust and dirt hang heavy in the air. Eric wasn't kidding, the flavor of rust gets everywhere. He glanced between the massive Krogan and the lithe Salarian. The gruff Turian and dangerous Batarian were close by as well. It was nice having so many aliens on the team. Variety was necessary in this day and age, he thought to himself while glancing around the dingy bar. He caught a glimpse of a golden Drell woman slip out from the faint shadows. She moved quickly and silently, making her way to the exit. And variety has its advantages, he smiled knowingly to himself as she disappeared around the corner.
"I believe we waited long enough," Esteban addressed the team, rising up to his feet finally. "Thank you all for coming to this..." Esteban's voice trailed off, momentarily struggling to find a polite word for the galaxy's craphole. "To this quaint corner of the galaxy. Cartegena Station is the farthest point away from Citadel space. It was the best I could find under short notice for a secure location. Anyone new to this station stands out, making spying nearly impossible. The nearest comm buoy is two Relay jumps away, so by the time anyone had a chance to drop the information, we would be gone by that point."
Esteban stopped right there, letting the implications of his statement hang in the air. He believes there is danger to his life already.
"I will be brief. Udina was the one who tipped off the Collectors about the Nithian base," Esteban said matter of factly, his hands moving behind his back. "I discovered this when I was in his office for a meeting. He had to leave to speak with Councillor Anderson on an adjacent matter and he left his terminal activate. My VI downloaded whatever files he could automatically. It's standard procedure."
"The files chilled me. He made a number of deals with the Collectors. He traded dozens of humans, including children part of the Ascension project, for weapons and technologies. Ships. Rifles. Armors. Engines. Udina credited many of the Alliance's newest advancement to this. He built the modern Alliance on the bones of humanity," he muttered in disgust. It was then that Iskra's varren, Parr, happily pranced into the room with what appeared to be some sort of chew toy in its maw. It came up to Esteban... he scratched the varren's head.
"Udina had the location of a secret Collector base in his files," Esteban continued on, speaking only as loudly for everyone in the crew to hear. "It is where the Collectors took their prisoners. I need to know what the Collectors know about the Nithians. I want to save whoever I can at the Collector base. I want more proof that Udina was in bed with the Collectors. I... I want to confirm that the data the Nithians had on their enemy was the same as the Reapers. I believe the Collectors will have information on the ships so I can compare." He paused for a moment.
"I am offering 150,000 credits and 50% salvage rights to anything within the base," he smiled slightly. "I trust that will be sufficient."

"I am offering 150,000 credits and 50% salvage rights to anything within the base. I trust that will be sufficient," the businessman said with just a hint of a grin.
Maelstrom shifted in his seat. Business was not his strong suit. Fighting was. There were a couple things which came to mind, though.
"So long as the 'salvage rights' don't extend to the armor and weaponry on the person of the Collectors we take down, that part sits well with me," Maelstrom said, not wanting his share of the salvage rights to all get eaten up by confiscated grenades and replacement materials for his new armor. "Second, and I'm getting this out up-front this time, so there's no further confusion- the Vengeance is my personal property. I will extend its usage to the mission, but no one but me has the final say on where she goes or how she gets there."

Meldom was visibly happy at the prospect at the salvage rights, the 150,000 was more of a bonus but he still could put it to good use. he waited for Maelstrom to stop speaking before he did.
"Assuming we can take copies of any data found also ?" Information could be just as useful as credits, Meldom knew this all too well.
"Also where is the base, same conditions like barce or more gravity?"
