Eric nodded in agreement with his junior counterpart. "... I'm sure Murdach would appreciate that, Joe..."
He then considered Maelstrom's remarks. "Even if we didn't accomplish everything we set out to do, get away in one piece... we caused enough trouble to get a Reaper's attention. Until now Shepard was the only one... I could be wrong but it looks like we may have created a second front in this 'war.' If other people joined in it could confuse the Reapers more, wonderin' when n' where the next smack'll come from... or it could make them attack much sooner... in full force."
Eric emptied his latest glass of cognac quickly.

"in full force." The former N7 downed his drink.
Maelstrom considered Lysander's words for a moment. "To not act is to invite destruction. To act may be equally futile." He took a sip. "Somehow, I doubt nukes will be enough to solve the problem when they get here. I mean, if there were a straightforward way of taking them on, someone would have done it before. It's either going to take ingenuity the likes of which the galaxy has never seen or sacrifice beyond the scope of what any of us are yet willing to admit."
He took another sip. "I wonder if today was our introductory course to the kind of sacrifice that will be commonplace every day when they strike."

"Well, if we're fighting Reapers now, we're going to need some more heat sinks and medigel," Joe said, looking at Bridges. "And some people to apply it.
"I consider it a minor miracle we didn't walk out of that base with more serious injuries," he continued. "But we can't count on that forever, boss. You need to hire more medics."
His grin returned. "I prefer mine to be human, female, blonde, leggy and stacked," he said. "But if she's a redhead instead of a blonde, I won't lead a mutiny."

As said party would somewhat go into it's.. 'Full' swing, any party wouldn't be complete without several tons of krogan fun! Even then, Karn knew how to make much of an entrance. It'd be somewhat funny, and a tad weird to see a krogan in something a tad casual, instead of a few tons of armor as they're most commonly known for. But regardless of the fact, he trudges on in without much of a sensible knock, probably knowing full well someone might not even reach it to the door in time. He held a metal crate in his hand, bottles stuck in it and looking mighty big to begin with. The easiest guess would be what exactly is inside the bottles, but the idea of what the hell he was about to do with them was anyone's guess...
"Yo', it ain't a party til' I'm involved!", the krogan would laugh out audibly, stepping into the room to greet himself to the rest of the party goers.

"Karn!" Joe called out as he went up to greet the krogan. "About time you showed up! Let me guess, those are bottles of ryncol, and you went all the way to Tuchanka to get them?"

"Karn!" Joe would call out towards his krogan friend. "About time you showed up! Let me guess, those are bottles of ryncol, and you went all the way to Tuchanka to get them?"
Karn gives an amused grin, before mostly shoving the box into Joe's hands before patting the N7 against his back. "Pff', the only thing I'd go back for is for women, not the fuckin' bottles, haha!", the krogan laughs out as he looks about the more or less fancier looking room. "So, the hell we doin' tonight?"

"The women?!" Joe asked, grinning. "Shit, the only way I could even look at your women is with the bottles...or more accurately, what's IN the bottles!"
He was glad the krogan had showed up. Both Bridges and Maelstrom were good men in a fight, but wouldn't know a good time if it came up to them and gave them a lap dance, and the normally jovial Lysander was still depressed over how much he was in the shadow of the man he had trained. But with Karn, hopefully the mood in the room would lift.
One good thing about the krogan, they don't know shit about being subtle...
"As for what we're doing, I'm hoping we can get stupid drunk and go long into the night telling tall tales about ourselves," he said.

"The women?!" Joe would ask, grinning as he does. "Shit, the only way I could even look at your women is with the bottles...or more accurately, what's IN the bottles!"
The krogan heaves out a laugh, somewhat impressed by the humans rather interesting humor. "Hey! You ain't seen what them ladies can do to a guy!", he chuckles out as he glances back towards him. "Eeeh.. To you? Probably break ya' spine, that's for damn sure, haha!"
"As for what we're doing, I'm hoping we can get stupid drunk and go long into the night telling tall tales about ourselves," Joe would state.
Karn, knowingly listening to Fischer's statements gives a big grin across his rough and scaled lips, before patting his back again, moving over to find a glass. "Well, knowin' this is gonna' be one of -those- nights.. How bout' I teach you a thing or two about bein' really god damn drunk!", he laughs out soon after, shuffling out for some neat little glasses to perchance.. 'Steal' away.

Eric could not help himself, chuckling at Joe and Karn’s exchange and display of masculinity. He then remembered that throughout this particular mission he had not really spoken with the krogan much other than light-hearted commentary. The senior N7 joined in. “You guys can compare tats n’ battle damage, too. I hear that really impresses krogan. You should check out my suit, Karn.” Eric traced a circle over his chest. " Big ol’ dent in th’ chestplate. Got it point blank from that big bad Vanguard. Woulda been my ass if Mal here hadn’t stepped in n’ finished ‘em!”

"Woulda been my ass if Mal here hadn’t stepped in n’ finished ‘em!” Lysander said.
"I'm afraid I can't take credit for a killing blow when it wasn't mine," Maelstrom said. "You're the one who delivered the killing blow. The rest of us just set it up for you."

Eric shrugged. “But ya did help me get back on my feet again when it was over… thanks,” he winked at his friend and turned his attention to Karn.
“So, big guy, tell me… you just went where where angels fear to tread, stared inta th’ very heart o’darkness n’ lived ta talk about it… was it everything you expected?”

“So, big guy, tell me… you just went where where angels fear to tread, stared inta th’ very heart o’darkness n’ lived ta talk about it… was it everything you expected?”, Lysander would ask.
The krogan gave a grin, before folding his broad arms across his chest, emitting an audible chuckle from his rough sounding throat. "Lived up to every expectation I was expectin'..", he chuckles out, before patting his chest. "Damn surprised me when you lot took out that damn thing, hehe.. Didn't even have to put myself in the way!", he soon laughs out, taking humor to the situation. The krogan then turned to the N7 himself, before setting a bunch of shot glasses down on a nearby table.
"Heh, you up for losin', buddy?", he'd grin as he states, his broad grin almost becoming toothy.

Joe made a show of looking around the room.
"I know you ain't talking to me, Karn, I've never lost anything in my life!" he said. "Except for my virginity."

Esteban nursed his drink, staying quiet while the rest of the team joked and shared their feelings as only mercenaries can. He stood close to the men conversing, but did not do much to call attention to himself. His mind wandered to his own past. He knew it was caused by the Asari ballad.
He normally loved the memories that ballad inspired. There were so many good memories he held dear. This time, the memories were disquieting. He hid it behind his calm mask, continuing to sip his drink... laughing at the appropriate times. Smiling and nodding at other times.
...."except for my virginity."
Esteban choked down his surprise... Did Joseph just burn himself? That's... not how jocularity works.
"Well, we are all glad you are protecting that jewel of the galaxy," Esteban said with as much sincerity as he can muster. "Possibly the last one left."

Joe caught his employer's remark, and an odd thing occurred: he was thrown for a loop. It seemed to have nothing to do with what he himself had said and he was therefore at a loss as to how to reply.
So he did what he usually did when he got confused: he made a joke.
"Good effort, boss!" he said, giving his employer a double thumbs up. "But if you want to REALLY impress me, make an elcor laugh!"

“Oh my God,” Eric interjected. “Mono Manny!” Eric finished his glass and elaborated.
“This outpost I was stationed at had this burger joint. Great food but the guy who ran it… I dunno if he was depressed or on downers but he spoke – no – droned on in this monotone that made it sound like he was so glad to be alive. I said ‘one o’ these days an elcor’s gonna show up… n’ there’s gonna be trouble.’ And wouldn’t ya know it… two days before I transfer out I head over for lunch and there’s Manny arguing with an elcor!”
Eric acted out the conversation between them, adopting their voices and mannerisms.
“What would you like on your burger, sir.”
“Annoyed: why are you making fun of me.”
“I’m not making fun of you, sir.”
“Increasing frustration: this is not called for.”
“I’m just asking what toppings you want.”
“Barely contained anger: get me your manager.”
“I am the man-“
Eric dissolved into a giggling fit, trying to recover his breath. “They… they hadda peel me off th’ floor I was laughin' so hard!”

Karn would find himself stood between a possibly drunk set of humans, though given Maelstroms usual personality, he was pretty sure about two of them were plastered on something liquid, and highly intoxicating. Still, it brought a laugh to the current situation, and Lysander's rather hilarious joke. The krogan would swallow a drink into his maw for a moment as he watches them, a smirk still set across his large, scaled lips. The party seemed somewhat calming in contrast to the last position they were all slapped into.
He looks back to Fischer soon afterwards, "You up fer' a drinkin' game, or too afraid to mess up?", he chuckles out.

"Afraid?" Joe said and let out a fake hearty laugh. "I don't know the meaning of the word!"
He then put on an exaggerated frown. "I'm also a little fuzzy on 'fatidic', 'panjandrum' and 'tintinnabulation'."

The krogan would squint his eyes at the human, giving the human a somewhat humored stare, before handing him a glass full of liquid. It's definitely not the krogan delicay of glass shards mixed into an alcoholic mess.. But, it certainly looked like something a krogan would make. Probably not enough to kill a man, but enough to send a elcor into an alcoholic fit in about two swigs of the liquid itself. If he had balls for brains, this would certainly not be the best idea he would ever have. But hey, free drinks! Free.. Krogan, drinks?..
"Drink up, let's see ya' laugh after this, haha!", the krogan laughs out.
