The Citadel is abuzz with activity as always. Everyone has somewhere to go. Something to do. Most are so wrapped up in the comings and goings of their daily life that they are barely aware of the rest of the universe unfolding around them. Few even take notice of the heavily-armed men and women in Bridges Unlimited's employ, making their way through the Citadel, preparing to fight for their lives. For most, their view of the galaxy beyond themselves is limited to the daily news that streams through the speakers placed in key places throughout the city. A male reporter with a deep voice is heard on the walkways of the Presidium...
"Authorities announced today that they are withdrawing the 100,000 credit offered for information leading to the arrest of the cyber-terrorist operating under the name 'Archer' and the unidentified barefaced turian suspected to be her accomplice. This after several independent investigations point to the pair boarding a transport scheduled to make a stop at Bahak Central Spaceport before continuing on the the capital of the Batarian Hegemony. All but one of the passengers, an asari businesswoman who booked a private transport to return home after receiving news that her parents had died in a traffic accident, are missing and presumed dead.
"The survivor, who has asked to remain nameless, had this to say.
A feminine voice, clearly shaken but strong, fills out the short sound bite- "The universe acts in such mysterious ways, you know? I mean... The worst thing that's ever happened to me turned out to be what saved my life. It's odd... I mean, I feel horrible about what happened at Bahak, but it's like now I know, everything happens for a purpose."
"Earth officials are still refusing to comment on what possible sentences Commander Shepard might face at the conclusion of the special inquiry currently being assembled, however Citadel officials state that they will not intervene on Shepard's behalf to interfere with the carrying out of justice.
"We will continue filling you in on the 'Incident at Bahak' as it develops."
***************************************************************
A female reporter on the elevator channel...
"Officials at the Citadel Corps of Engineers stated today that they have been unable to resolve the interference plaguing all incoming and outgoing transmissions from the Citadel. While there is no official word on the issue, inside sources say that it is doubtful that the problem is related to Citadel systems."
A processed voice says- "'The investigation is ongoing, but between the keepers and the best people in the galaxy working on this, I believe we can safely say that all Citadel systems are operating as intended. The issue is most likely related to one of the several illegal 'pirate' stations which transmit dubious non-sanctioned stories. Some of us even suspect that it is a deliberate action to sway many towards the sort of conspiracy theorizing that is praised on these stations."
"This in contrast to the group 'Open Your Eyes,' whose chairman- who has chosen to remain anonymous- had this to say."
An overeager, almost manic man's voice starts immediately in- "Commander Shepard is one of the most decorated military men in history, but the government refuses to tell us what he has been trying to. We need to prepare, and sometimes extreme actions are necessary. People say he's insane, but he's not. I met him once. I was out of line, and he shot me. But now I'm doing my duty, every citizen's duty, and taking up his banner. Commander Shepard wouldn't let this go or try to blame it one someone convenient. He would know something bigger was going on and pursue it until he found out what it is!"
**************************************************************************
Yet another woman's report airs down in the wards...
"Anti-human protests on the Presidium prompted C-Sec intervention today, when protesters arrived to find members of the controversial human organization Earth First occupying the site of their three-week protest. Earth First filed a permit to use the space for a demonstration after the first week of the the protest which has become known as 'Never Again,' and it has been on-file ever since. An altercation between the two groups ensued. Several arrests were made, after nearly one dozen individuals were injured in the fighting.
"Officials at Huerta Memorial Hospital say none of the injuries were serious. Influential volus citizen and financial genius Barla Von had this to say after being released from police custody after being cleared of any wrongdoing in the encounter."
A confident volus with relatively little respirator sound speaks boldly- "While it is true that there are elements in this protest who advocate actions extreme beyond reason, most of us are simply concerned. Many of my best customers are humans, and I would not want to offend any of them. The truth is, though, that the human government- particularly its military branch- is simply too new to the galactic community and needs more time to find its place in the greater whole before being given the level of authority it has been. The incident at Bahak poignantly reinforces this necessity." -------------------------------------- Everyone's posts should have their characters ready or making last-second preparations for the coming assault, already with the group to which they have been assigned (unless otherwise cleared with the members of that group or the GMs). There should be no descriptions of the battlefield or enemy forces until either Meldom or Lekuhn report back in their first post. Summary of Fischer's plan- Team 1- Lekuhn and Meldom scout the ambush Team 2- Joe and Karn trigger the trap (Maelstrom is with their group at this stage) Team 3- Naetilia and Maricus attack from one side Team 4- Lysander and Izahm attack from the other side Bridges- Stays out of the heavy fighting to keep an eye on alarms and tech issues

Lekuhn walked casually through the Citadel as if he were going to Flux for an ale. He knew the proper amount of adrenaline would hit his system when the time was right. He went over Joe's plan from top to bottom as he walked toward the docking bay. His mind brought the memory back into perfect virtual existence.
“First things first, we need to know what we’re up against in terms of numbers, weaponry and capabilities."
That's Meldom and me. I've never worked with him, so I will have to adjust to his style. I have faith in him though. If anyone can be sneaky, a Salarian can.
He left at a different time than his assassin counterpart purposefully to stagger the timing of their arrival. Stealthed or not, this was in The Citadel and Lekuhn knew it needed to look casual.
We do not want C-sec involved and even though Bridges is covering that, it is always wise to tread cautiously in these situations.
“Boss, I was thinking you hack into the bay’s security cameras, give us an initial look at these guys,” Joe had said. “Once we get eyes on them, then we send in our sneaky guys—that means you, Meldom, along with Lekuhn—to put actual eyes on them and set up in sniper overwatch."
I will need to wait once I get close for Meldom and use hand signals to find optimal positions. We can't be on top of each other. One left and one right maybe. We shall see.
Judging by the timing of the plan, Bridges had not yet hacked the cameras to get a glimpse of what they were up against. They were going in blind. This excited Lekuhn, like unwrapping a mysterious gift. This is what made his trade invigorating.
The closer to death I am, the more authentic I feel.
“If we’re going to make this work, we need them to think they got the upper hand, because then they’re going to lower their guard,” rattled Joe's booming voice in Lekuhn's memory. “So I think we should send in a couple of guys as bait to trigger the ambush. I’m thinking it should be people who can take a few hits in case these guys get some shots off, so I’m nominating myself and Karn."
That should do it. A human tank and a Krogan walk into an Ambush...good joke. Nonetheless, it will raise pulses, which is what we need.
Lekuhn thought of the moment he had over the gun with Joe and how comforting it was to actually connect with someone after years of solitude.
They will not touch my team. Not a drop of their blood will spill. I will send every bullet to it's home, in the hearts of my foes.
“Pops, Boss #2, you each take one of the new people and fall in on these guys when this thing kicks off,” rang the memory. “Just to keep them off-balance, you should insert from different places, that way we don’t give them one easy target to shoot at. Pops, I was thinking you take Clark Kent, and Boss #2, you take the doctor.”
Eyes wide, Lekuhn. No friendlies. Random inserts can be dangerous, but again...not a drop.
The memory spoke on,
“Boss, once the shooting starts, that’s probably going to set off all sorts of alarms. I think you should try to stay out of it, monitor the security system and head off any of those alarms, because if C-Sec shows up, they’re just going to throw all of us in jail and then this mission is over before it even starts. "
Perfect. Damage control. This guy is good. Seems like he's covered all the bases. Except for the ones we can't see. Why did they let them live?
“Maelstrom, I was thinking that you could act as a floater, just running around the battlefield and wreaking havoc wherever you saw fit, or maybe join me and Karn as bait, but if you want to bring in your girl, I’m not going to stop you. I just think if you bring her into this, she’s going to attract a LOT of unfriendly attention. Are you comfortable with that?” the giant N7 had said to the man in black.
Lekuhn had not spoken directly with this one, but did not have to. He knew they were different sides of the same coin. He knew Maelstrom could handle any foe, but more personal loss was a different story.
I will be watching. Not a drop...
Lekuhn had passed very few people on the way and had drawn no attention that he could tell. He had learned to make himself just another thing that crawled across the surface of a planet or space station and in doing so, a concern to no one. He had remained aware of his surroundings, but was halfway between being fully present and away in memory. He knew he was in the elevator reaching the floor that the docking bay was on and he knew he had just engaged his cloak, but he had gone to that place he would always go when he did these jobs. A place that is neither here nor there, but perfectly present all at once.
The doors to the elevator opened and he found better cover in a nearby shadow.
Now I wait for my partner.
So he waited.
...and waited
...and waited until he knew he had to move.
Surely he is here. Either way, I've always worked alone. I just hope he has good timing.
Lekuhn crept up to a crate just to the left of the opening to the docking bay. This is where he felt his roots. The reptilian predator stalking his prey. His moved like a glass of water slowly spilling out across the floor and became perfectly still again when he found his cover. He steadied himself and slowly peered over the crate. What he saw was astonishing.
He counted 15 mercs total, all buzzing around the area shouting back and forth about this piece of equipment or that machine obviously trying to set up kill zones. They were armed to the teeth, but had not damaged the Valiant. He could tell they intended to destroy whatever came in their way though. He counted four Turians (3 male 1 female), three Quarian males, three Asari, two human males and 2 Drells, male and female. Then there was the massive Krogan. Their positioning troubled Lekuhn as they were spread out. It would be very hard to pick them off quickly if need be.
We need to funnel them into crossfire. Where is Meldom? ...and what about these cameras? Has bridges hacked them?
Lekuhn glanced at a nearby camera and noticed its light blinking at the steady pace of a loop.
They piped in a false feed. I have to contact the team.
Lekuhn knew that even though there was noise, radios would be dangerous. He slipped back around the corner to use his omni-tool so the light from the device would not draw eyes. He sent all of his gathered info back to Bridges also stating, "Will post up on upper left platform behind crate. No sign of Meldom. Awaiting response/orders.""
He had seen the platform from the ground and knew he needed to be up high to make this work. Still cloaked, he slipped back over to the crate on the ground he was hiding behind before. The traffic too and fro would make it hard to get up the ladder without being detected. He waited until all eyes were on what the were doing and he made his move.
Like the wind, Lekuhn, he thought, mentally quoting his father from a fond childhood memory.
He rand swiftly and quietly to the ladder and skipped three rungs at a time on the way up. Relieved, he took cover behind the crate.
This is a great spot. Here we go, he thought awaiting the next move of his team.

[GM Post]
Hello all
Let us begin the combat. For the purposes of beginning the battle, Bridges gives the go for the attack to begin. So enjoy!
Enemies: 15 (though can be variable based on the need of the PCs)
Enemy level: Mook
Conditions: As long as the attacks are fast and deadly, not giving the enemy a chance to know you are there, or can keep them from activating their kinetic barriers, they are mook level. But if any enemy is give warning in any way, they can activate their kinetic barrier and raise their difficulty to mini-boss level.
Additional note: Bridges will handle the cameras, hacking into the system. The GM will do a separate post on that later on, but it should bare no consequence to the battle. And remember, do not be greedy. Only kill one or two at a time. Don't hog all the fun!

Maelstrom sat on a public bench in the initial assault group's gathering point. He took the small electronic device, barely two inches in diameter, carefully in his hand, then grabbed the adhesive gel. He spread a large glob on the back of the device, in place of the standard magnetic mount. Though nowhere near as dangerous as making custom grenades, he still tried to be precise, not wanting to have to extricate his hand from the goo. Next, he inserted a simple device into the adhesive, to secure the device to his armor. Finally, so he would be able to remove the device and launch it, he sprayed the sealant over the goop, which created a fairly durable casing. It was a standard technique for mercenaries seeking to make a crude sticky grenade. Of course, Maelstrom knew he could not use explosives, but he had another idea...
Opening a secure channel to Bridges and Lysander, but also leaving his external speakers on, so the other members of his team could hear if they were listening, Maelstrom said, "Hey, guys, I got an idea on the way here. I stopped by an electronics store and picked up some wireless speakers that can pump out some real decibels. I've tied them in to Emily's systems. During the fight, she's going to pipe in some battle sounds from an action movie. I've given them an adhesive backing, and I'm going to deploy them like biotically-propelled sticky grenades. No real explosions, but these guys should think they've just been dropped onto The Battle of the Citadel or something. Just wanted to give you a heads up, and I figured you could warn the rest of the team too."
It only took him a few more moments to rig up the rest of the six-pack of devices and secure them to an easily-accessed location on his armor. He then started in on checking that his SMG's were ready for action. He had already checked and double-checked Vengeance's systems. In a matter of seconds, his weapons were all confirmed ready. Maelstrom was ready.
Lekuhn's report on what they would find behind the doors came through. Then the order came through to attack.
Maelstrom flung the doors open and immediately assessed the field. It was a large docking bay, much like the ones Bridges used in the past. Over a dozen mercs were milling about, setting up. Crates were stocked all over the place, and there were a couple simple cranes for loading and unloading of items larger than the half-dozen anti-grav sleds could handle. In the central, rear portion of the bay was the Valiant, seemingly unguarded. Behind it, a blue-tinted field that retained the bay's atmosphere.
It was less than two seconds before he rolled to cover behind a solitary crate. The next moment, he was launching his impromptu devices. All but one successfully stuck to their surfaces, scattered around the bay. Sounds of explosions, fires, gunshots, and the screams of fake deaths and injuries filled the air. Unlike a film, where they would typically be linked in a progression, these scenes were starting at different points of time, making it sound far more like a real battlefield. Maelstrom smiled at his ingenuity, just as a half dozen shots issued forth at him. They took his shields down almost thirty percent.
He ducked back to cover for just a moment before doing a rolê from cover and drawing his geth-modified SMG as he did. He immediately homed in on one of the quarians among his enemies. They could not risk giving the tech experts time to deploy mines and drones, much less possibly hack weapons or armor. It took just a few moments for him to unload enough shots to deplete the quarian's shield, then another shot that passed clean through the environmental-suited merc.
His target down, Maelstrom quickly rushed to another group of crates, as a handful of poorly-aimed shots impacted against his shields.

Joe strolled towards the docking bay, Karn a few steps behind him and Maelstrom a few steps further back. He had seen little of the biotic in actual combat aside from the battle against the Reaperized elcor, but what he had seen had left no doubt why the man was on the team.
He listened as Maelstrom outlined an idea for pumping in sound effects from an action vid to sow confusion among the enemy ranks, and frowned; something like that would sow confusion on both sides, there would be no way of knowing if shots fired were real or fake.
"Will post up on upper left platform behind crate,” came the voice of Lekuhn over his comm link just as he was about to voice his disagreement with Maelstrom’s suggestion. “No sign of Meldom. Awaiting response/orders."
“That’s a good copy, Lekuhn,” he replied as he and the others stopped outside the docking bay. “What do you see?”
Before the drell could respond, the biotic slammed the doors open and charged in, with the sound of gunfire coming a split second later.
He just stared, stupefied, at the man’s actions for a second, before pushing it back. He then put on his helmet and charged through the door.
*****
The adrenaline was already pumping as he went through the doors, so everything felt like it was in slow motion. In the few seconds it took for him to take cover behind some packing crates, he had taken the whole scene in.
Four turians. Three quarians—no, scratch that, two. Three asari. Two humans. Two drell. One krogan.
He targeted the krogan, but then moved off; he knew Karn would target that one, because it was the strongest opponent among them and he would be upset if it was taken from him.
He switched over to one of the asari and put three rounds in her chest. Even though he had the selector switch on his Mattock set to single shot, his shots were fired so quickly they sounded like a three-round burst.
A loud crunching sound caught his attention. He looked over to see Karn standing before the other krogan, the last of a biotic field fading away; he had biotically charged the other member of his race, and the other krogan, much to his credit, was still standing, but he could tell by its wobbling knees it was about to go down.
Karn didn’t wait for nature to take its course. He drew his hammer and swung it in a powerful uppercut that would have ripped the head off of the member of any other race, and still the other krogan somehow managed to stay upright.
With a roar that shook the walls, the battlemaster swung the hammer a full 360 degrees before planting it right on top of the other krogan’s head. This time it went down, its head reformed in a shape that nature did not intend.
Karn let out a bloodthirsty laugh and looked for another target.
Maelstrom, when this is over, you and I are going to have a talk...

Meldom was later then he expected to be, he had opted for a good position with visual over cover, as a result getting to the place he wished to took some time longer. Bribing a docking bay worker to look the other way was the easy bit, avoiding the others however caused problems even with his cloak due to how often they moved around. He made his way up one of the cranes in the docking bay as he heard his earpiece buzz ""Will post up on upper left platform behind crate. No sign of Meldom. Awaiting response/orders." Lekuhn said. Almost there he thought to himself as he reached the top of the ladder, moving to the end of the crane and securing a wire connecting him to the metal bar of the crane. Right, He thought to himself as he hoisted his sniper rifle from his back.
Then the fighting bellow began, he watched as Maelstrom crashed through the door, then followed by Joe and Karn a short time later. "Am i that late" he said Looking over the edge stepping off. he held the wire controller in one hand to stop himself going any lower then needed, when he was happy with a length he fastened it to his belt and Engaged his cloak, he activated his Mic and spoke "In position now" he said keeping it short. Aiming his M-97 Viper at the area to decide who to fire at.
His first short went slightly to the left but still hitting one Quarian Shield, the shot caused him to sway slightly as the recoil could not go anywhere, I calibrated you earlier he thought to his rifle as he took a second shot, by now a Quarian had looked around to find the person who had drained the shield but Meldom fired before, His bullet went through the little remainder of the shield and through the quarians mask on the left and through the right, Meldom looked through the scope as the quarian made a motion like he was coughing or choking before falling to the floor.
By now the wire was visibly swinging due to the recoil, Meldom decided not to fire a few more shots till it had balanced out again.

Izahm hears the gunshots and rushes into the docking bay taking cover behind some crates with a practiced combat roll the dense plates of his armor speeding along his movement. Yeah really glad I had that Asari Matriarch design me some armor, her idea of dense but thin plates was genius, as he is thinking he uses that time to activate his tech armor-at average strength not full strength signified by the normal orange glow of the armor instead of the electric blue of full strength-then taking a quick calming breath he turns to Lysander and says, "Yo Lysander, which weapon should I use, Disciple, Widow or yours truly?" As he is the team lead and Izahm was undecided on whether or not he should show just how good his tech armor was and he really didn't know which gun to use as he usually worked alone or with very small groups. I really need to get out more, Izahm thinks as he waits for Lysander's reply, Niniah would be impressed though with my current teammates. They've got quite a resume.

Maricus and Naetilia reached their insertion point as she had suggested, entering the docking bay through a ventilation shaft they had crawled through. The vent opened up right behind some packing crates, so she and elder turian were hidden from enemy view.
She looked over the enemy forces and counted them before turning to Maricus.
“I count fifteen hostiles, sir,” she said. “Given this is my first mission with this team, I will defer to your leadership when engaging in combat operations.”
(Insert reply)
The elder turian had just finished speaking when the main entrance doors flew open and Maelstrom began engaging the enemy.
“Fischer and the krogan were supposed to go first, were they not?” she asked, looking over at Maricus.

Maricus followed the young turian woman through the ventilation shaft and into a small area concealed by several shipping crates.
A report came through his omni-tool, automatically displaying in a corner of his HUD, Lekuhn's observations on the enemy forces. Maricus made a mental note of it all, though years with the military had taught him to never trust intelligence one hundred percent.
His partner peeked out at the enemy mercenaries, before reporting, “I count fifteen hostiles, sir. Given this is my first mission with this team, I will defer to your leadership when engaging in combat operations."
"This is my first mission with the team too," he confided. "Two former members of the turian miliary, though... heh." He peeked over the crates himself, assessing the situation. "I intend to begin by deploying a singularity. Can you detonate it?" he asked, drawing his galidus.
Before Naetilia had a chance to reply, Maricus noted Bridges' order to attack come through. Barely a moment later, Maelstrom strode into the room. He watched curiously while the biotic took a moment to scan the field before taking to cover. Several small bursts of blue alerted him to the fact that the biotic had launched something. Sounds of battle almost immediately filled the bay. Aside from the shots aimed for the man in black Collector armor and his counterattacks, though, Maricus saw no signs of destruction. He smirked, remembering a story about a pinned-down turian unit using the omni-tools of their fallen brothers and sisters for a similar tactic.
“Fischer and the krogan were supposed to go first, were they not?” Naetilia asked, looking over at Maricus.
A moment later, both Fischer and Karn emerged and began engaging the enemy, Karn quickly going after the enemy krogan while Fischer took out another of the mob.
"It would appear he went with their team, to deploy his devices," Maricus guessed, though he was surprised with just how quickly Maelstrom responded to the order. He remembered reports painting him as somewhat uptight, so he guessed the man had been waiting to get back into combat for a while. He noticed one of the hostiles go down from a shot from behind. No one else seemed to take note of the death, though, the fire from the enemy group being concentrated on Maelstrom, Karn, and Fischer. "I believe we've waited long enough."
Maricus picked his first target carefully, the last remaining quarian, who was being protected by a turian and an asari. The quarian was already at work on its omni-tool, and Maricus knew better than to let it finish. He threw a singularity, lifting the three off the floor and disrupting the quarian's work. Naetilia would be able to easily finish them with a biotic detonation, and he pointed with his free hand to indicate her target.
An orange glow drew his attention, and he barely dodged an omni-blade aimed for his head. He quickly turned to face his target, then thrust his sword for the offending drell's heart. His opponent was already in the process of dodging, though, and the weapon hit off the mark, ending up lodged in the drell's shoulder. It took him a moment to free the weapon, and his opponent rolled away in the process. Maricus righted his sword and started back towards the drell, but his opponent had overcome his pain and already had a heavy pistol aimed at the Maricus' breastplate.

Lekuhn held his position, not wanting to fire first due to the spread of the enemy in the field. He was analyzing which targets would be most likely the biggest threat, especially when is came to their ability to do damage at long range, when Maelstrom piped up over the com channel.
"Hey, guys, I got an idea on the way here.
He really is crazy, Lekuhn thought, stifling a chuckle.
He takes risks, but I like his style. I don't think Joe will be too happy about this sudden change of plan though.
“That’s a good copy, Lekuhn,” he had heard Joe reply to his report. Lekuhn knew that Joe was the type that didn't like to stray from a plan.
Lekuhn heard the doors of the docking bay slam open. This did not startle him, but did get his attention and the attention of every merc there. He looked over to the doors and there stood the man in black like a human that just kicked the doors open of the local saloon in an old Earth film.
Cowboys...that's what they called them.
Lekuhn wondered if there would be a wild west soundtrack that accompanied the sound effects pumping through the speakers Maelstrom was planning on throwing. The mayhem commenced quickly as Maelstrom flung audible sticky bombs at various targets. It was like throwing gasoline on a nest of hornets. The man in black immediately drew fire, but retaliated quickly taking down one of the Quarians. he took fire a second time, but managed to hold on to some of his shields, as best Lekuhn could tell, before acrobatically taking cover again.
Next came Joe and Karn. The Krogan met his kinsman on the field head on demolishing him with a series of blows. This exchange made Lekuhn thankful he didn't have to face the Krogan and that we had one on our side. This was happening at the same time Joe put three rounds in an Asari.
That's not your step mother. It just looks like her, he said to steady that shaky place deep within as he watched the Asari fall lifeless.
Nice group though. Especially for shooting that quickly.
Just then he noticed his Salarian counterpart fiddling with a crane.
Is he really going to do what i think he is going to do? He'll be a sitting duck.
The Salarian had suspended himself from a crane on a wire and was shooting at a Quarian. The recoil made him swing and though he was cloaked, the tell tale shimmer gave him away. Nonetheless he fell his target.
Good shooting considering. Glad you showed up.
"Yo Lysander, which weapon should I use, Disciple, Widow or yours truly?", he heard the familiar voice of Izham say.
Don't think on in too long pal, or the grey matter needed to do the thinking will be on the wall. I wonder what his next move will be.
Finally he located the Naetilla and Marcius. They had taken cover behind crates and appeared to be quickly discussing their next move. They just looked like they belonged in battle together.
These two are going to really do some damage. Surgical. No pun intended, he thought giving himself a quick mental pat on the back for the corny joke.
Now that everyone is here, it is, as they used to say on Earth, ON.
The two humans had seen the coming onslaught and were running to cover.
Not so fast my pink little friends.
Lekuhn had made note of everything in this area and it was set in stone in his mind. The crane adjacent to the one Meldrom was hanging from had a steel cargo net hanging from it. Most like to move loose parts from one point to another. Lekuhn had a better idea for it. As the humans ran under it to jump behind the crane for cover, he fired an explosive round at the top if the net. The cables split, sending the net down on the humans.
Stay. Good mercs.
He was going to finish them like fish in a barrel when he noticed the one of the Drell swaying his gun left and right, trying to sight Meldom.
Damn! He spotted him.
He took a closer look through the scope of his Viper just in time to see the Drell easing back on the trigger. It took two shots to finish the target. One took his shields and the other his head.
It saddens me to kill on of my own,but like I said...not a drop.

Esteban paused within the dimly lit access tube, wiping sweat from his brow. It was hotter in there than he was expecting. He heard that there were still small malfunctions throughout the Citadel after Saren's failed assault, but the Keepers did such a great job of repairing that he did not consider the AC in here would not work. He took a deep breath, filling his lungs with the hot, dry air while reviewing the map in his mind. Another fifteen feet and he would be at the junction.
He fell back down onto his hands and knees and continued to crawl forward. The junction he needed would let him bypass some of the nastier defenses the Citadel could put up. He was not sure if it was the Keepers, the Protheans, the Reapers, or the techs with the current council races that designed it. The metal was cool to the touch. He was grateful for that. IF the metal matched the air temperature, he would be dead for sure.
The path opened up into a small room with dozens of portals leading to parts unknown. Everything was barely visible. Even the access panels. It took a few moments for Esteban to find the one he needed. His hand carefully ran over the metal, searching for the the break in surface... something to show where the floor stopped and the panel began.
"There," he whispered, popping the access panel open. Green and yellow light spilled out. Esteban smiled to himself as he examined the circuits. His eyes shifted left and right as if he was reading the technology. It was exactly what he was expecting.
He tapped his earpiece to activate the group channel, speaking softly. "I am about to set up the datafeed. You will have a live feed of the docking bay's cameras and surveillance equipment." He reached down into the circuits, quickly disconnecting a couple wires with a quick yank. He connected those wires to his wrist brace, allowing his VI direct access into the docking bay's systems.
"Data," he addressed his VI. "Activate subroutine Control and Share."
"Yes sir," the VI replied. Within moments, everyone's omnitools will give an indication that a datastream is being received (as expected).

[For RP - Everyone will have access to the docking bay's cameras, speakers, microphones, heat sensors, and every other sensor that you feel could be on the Citadel]

As soon as the singularity enveloped the three mercs, Naetilia fired a warp pulse, triggering a biotic detonation and scattering them.
She drew her pistol to finish them, when nearby movement caught her eye. A drell appeared, slashing his omniblade at Maricus.
The elder turian just barely dodged and thrust his sword at his attacker, but it dodged—catching a glancing wound to its arm—while simultaneously drawing its pistol and aiming it at Maricus’ chest.
The mech slammed into the drell, its normally blue visual interface now red.
The drell managed to land on its feet, but the mech gave it no chance to counter, activating its shock attack, making the drell shudder in place.
She put two shots in its chest and another two in its head, then looked over at Maricus.
“Are you all right?” she asked.

Realizing waiting for Lysander to respond would result him loking even more like a kid Izahm smiles wolfishly cranks up his Tech Armor to full strength and deploys his Widow sighting one of the remaining Asari. He takes a few deep even breaths then squeezes the trigger, the first shot went through the Asari's cover depleting her shields and knocking the merc out of cover which gave him a good target and the second shot hit in the chest sending the Asari flying back lifeless. He slams a new thermal clip in and sighting through the scope once more. "Come on where are ya, ya little Bosh'tets?" He growls out searching for a new target.

Eric and Izahm had taken up their assigned positions in the docking bay when Maelstrom radioed the team. "Hey, guys, I got an idea on the way here.
“Even with the alarms suspended all that extra noise might get us some unwanted attention,” responded Eric. Thinking it over a second he then added “How ‘bout some controlled chaos instead? Use the speakers one at a time instead of all at once, lead our targets with fake gunshots?”
Before he could get an answer from the mercenary in black the battle was underway as Joe and Karn were the first in, taking out the rival krogan and asari commando of the group of fifteen enemy mercs. Lekuhn, Meldom, Naetilia and Marcius downed their respective targets in very short order, further reducing opposing numbers.
"Yo Lysander, which weapon should I use, Disciple, Widow or yours truly?" was the young reporter’s question to the senior N7 who was still trying to get a fix on a target amidst the fray.
As Eric removed his eye from his rifle’s scope Izahm had taken two shots, killing another asari merc. "Come on where are ya, ya little Bosh'tets?" he growled as he searched for a new target.
Esteban’s voice came in softly over the comms with helpful news. "I am about to set up the datafeed. You will have a live feed of the docking bay's cameras and surveillance equipment."
Eric recalibrated his HUD through his omni-tool, taking in the data sent from his employer. Joe’s strategy was quick and brutal; in under a minute the enemy unit was reduced by nearly three quarters. The Alliance dropout spotted two opportune targets: two blips trying to circle behind their offensive line. Eric quickly brought his M97 Viper to bear and scoped the two mercs, turian males.
“Two marks comin’ in at 9’oclock,” he whispered tensely to his partner. “You take out the ugly one-”
One of the turians fell dead with a severely evacuated cranium before Izahm could say a word.

Izahm heard the order focused on the target and took a shot hitting the other Turian in the chest the powerful round sending the lifeless body flying, "Second merc down," he says emotionlessly, he then scans for more targets while listening for anymore updates form Lysander. Breathe slowly, stay calm, fire between heartbeats, Izahm thinks repeating it in his head like a mantra helping him concentrate as he looks through his scope scanning for targets, Breathe slowly, stay calm, fire between heartbeats, breathe slow, stay calm, fire between heartbeats.

(Insert Maricus’ reply)
Naetilia nodded.
She looked over at the mech to gauge its operational status, but she did not see it. She expanded her visual search radius, but the results were the same.
Movement out of the corner of her eye caught her attention. She looked over to see a turian sneaking up behind Lysander.
The turian raised his rifle and aimed it at the unsuspecting human, but then suddenly fell forward, and the mech came flying into view. It had apparently sensed the sneak attack and launched its own.
The turian struggled to get up, but the mech activated its shock attack, stunning him.

Maricus was vaguely aware of the boom of a biotic explosion, as he closed in on his attacker. The drell's finger was already tensing, and Maricus knew he would take a shot before he could reach his target. In such a case, he would have to hope either his shields or his partner's first aid skills were up to the challenge.
Before his opponent could fire, though, Naetilia's mech slammed into him. The drell tried again to fire, only to be stunned by the mech and then put down by two shots from Naetilia.
“Are you all right?” she asked.
Sneaking up behind Naetilia, Maricus noticed the shimmer of a deactivating cloak field, revealing a drell female with a building blue glow. Something in her mannerism told him this was the mate of the one Naetilia had just killed. Maricus thrust a hand forward, hitting the drell with an admittedly-feeble shockwave. The point was not to kill her, but rather to slam the opponent back against the crate and momentarily daze her. The maneuver worked, and it bought Maricus the time to impale the enemy on his sword. He twisted and watched for a moment as the drell's hatred gave way into exhaustion and the color drained from her features. He withdrew his sword and flicked his wrist to send the blood splattering from the blade onto a nearby crate.
"My only injury is to my pride," he said. "Thanks for the save."
Naetilia nodded, before turning her attention to another enemy. Maricus decided it was time for him to do the same.

Lekuhn heard Esteban's voice over the com channel, "I am about to set up the datafeed. You will have a live feed of the docking bay's cameras and surveillance equipment."
The rest of his team was dropping targets all around.
These guys are amazing!
Lekuhn brought the data feed up on his HUD to see if there was any other foul play afoot. He noticed the two humans were still trapped beneath the cargo net.
"Leave the humans", he said over the channel. "We can question them separately and get some answers."
This is two pieces of that glass I was talking about, I think i was just a little tipsy at the time, but whatever works.
"We need to work together and carefully to secure them."

(The following scene contains crude material. If you believe you would find this offensive, message me for a G-rated summary.)
Maelstrom grinned. As usual, there was an undeniable efficiency to the group's work, and the inclusion of the new members of the team seemed to enhance it rather than diminish it. His shields back to full, Maelstrom finally rejoined the fight in earnest, rather than just firing from cover to keep the enemy off-balance.
One by one, he heard the speakers reach the end of the sound files Emily had selected based on his instruction to transmit violent, graphic scenes. Whenever one snippet ended, another took its place, and there was often a noticeable difference. Were it not for the very real sounds of combat also filling the cargo bay, only the dumbest of adversaries could have failed to grasp the trick that had been played on them.
Satisfied that everything was working as planned, Maelstrom started walking straight towards one of the asari. She threw a biotic push, and he dodged it without feeling the need to engage in his usual flare. She threw another, and he let himself slip into negativa perpendicular to his foe, then carefully closed the distance between them with a rolê. He came up under her defenses, and he wasted no time in throwing a biotically-enhanced meia lua de compasso. She activated her own biotics just in time to protect herself from the otherwise lethal blow, though it still sent her flying several meters back.
Before hitting the ground, her biotics flared brightly, and she landed gracefully. The glow then concentrated around one of her hands, as she prepared for another attack. At the same time, she grabbed a long metal baton from her utility belt. It activated in her hand, sparks and visible displays of electricity emanating along its length.
Maelstrom took a step forward to launch another biotic kick.
"Ohh..."
Both Maelstrom and his foe froze, not quite sure what they had just heard.
"Ohhaaghhh!" the undeniably feminine voice exclaimed, loud enough that no one in the docking bay could have missed it.
Maelstrom's mind raced until his thoughts arrived at the only possible conclusion.
"Oh! Agh! Agh! Agh!"
Emily, when this is done, we're going to do some serious work on your understanding of violence versus sexuality...
The asari's biotic glow started to return, and Maelstrom went for his gun.
"This one is pleased that you are enjoying yourself," a huskier, almost synthetic voice came over the speaker-bombs.
"Aaaghhh...Oh! Ahh! Ahh!" the female voice answered back. "Please, Blasto, talk dirty to me!"
Maelstrom and the asari were again frozen in disbelief over what they were hearing. Unless he was mistaken, a purple flush was coming to the asari's face. Then the reality of where he was rushed back to him, this time well before his enemy. He brought his SMG to bare without a moment's more hesitation. The asari saw and began to respond, but she was too late. Before she could do anything, Maelstrom had emptied his thermal clip at her torso.
Somehow, I'm glad that my gun isn't on the old venting technology. That would have made this all so much worse...
"You have been a bad girl. This one must punish you now," the fictional hanar Spectre's voice said.
"Emily, cut the feed, now!" Maelstrom roared into his microphone, as he took to cover. Why do action movies always have to contain a gratuitous sex scene?
"Oh, YEEE" The transmission cut out. Is it me, or have R-rated movies gotten more and more graphic through the years?
"You sound upset," Emily commented through their private comms, her emulation sounding confused. "Did I do something wrong?"
"We'll talk about it later," Maelstrom growled, as he switched thermal clips and entered back into the fray. It took him a moment to realize that all the enemy mercs remaining alive were frozen in place. Even Maelstrom felt his cheeks flush.
"Fischer's never going to let me live this down," Maelstrom sighed under his breath, as he trained his weapon on the nearest foe as a means of securing them.

Esteban pulled up his omnitool's unique interface, calling up a subroutine he created for situations like this. He called it Parasite. It hooked into onto any program Esteban ordered it to, giving him rudimentary control over it. He programmed it to be able to interface with virtually any low-level program. Parasite needed to be updated every week in order to account for advancements in software and hardware.
"Subroutine uploaded and functioning," Data told the Engineer in its calm, emotionless voice.
It was child's play for Esteban, really.... kneeling there within the dark veins of the Citadel. If he was truthful with himself, he was enjoying himself. It felt good to get his hands a little dirty. He wasn't someone who involved himself with combat. Being shot at was not something he enjoyed. But crawling through a Jefferies's tube to hack into a system... that was something he enjoyed.
He tapped in a simple command to route all alarm systems into his omnitool rather than alerting C-Sec. The display shifted, the hard light reorganized into a new interface.
"Finally, something went right," Esteban smirked, swiping his hand over the interface to call up the video feed of the docking bay. "No major surprises....."
Just as the last word escaped his lips, the feed locked on Maelstrom. It looked like the battle came to a standstill. But... why?
The audio feed answered that question, much to his ears displeasure.....
"What the hell?"
