A slight chuckle could be heard.
"... sorry I misunderstood you, Resindra..."
The former marine returned to the revised plans. "So, the asteroid gambit is nixed in favor of the turrets. Meldom will hijack them, take out the observation post and as many Collectors as he can with it. Drones will provide cover on the low ground for the team, the ruins and the mobile package for the command post. Mal has infil/exfil detail with his shuttle. I'm with the snipers on the high ground. Any questions? Comments? Suggestions?"

Setting down the cup of tea, Maelstrom tapped the control to the comms again, he hoped for the final time.
"Don't be mistaken, Mr. Lysander, I intend to earn my pay. The VI on the Vengeance is more than capable of infiltration and extraction along optimized stealth trajectories and outfitted to accept my orders remotely. My boots will be on the ground, just like everyone else's."
He took another sip before turning off his audio input again.

Meldom looked at his omnitool for any intel on the turrets "Guessing turrets will be superior to other, not like collectors to just use the tech they capture, upgrades mean different algorithms, makes hacking harder" Meldom thought for awhile.
"Hmm.. Will have to rewrite not only normal turret function but also whatever collectors did.. may take time.." he starts to tap his fingers on the table "Won't know exactly what to do till i see the turrets and can access the code.."

River, who had been silently listening to everyone's banter back and forth tucked away in the shadows, finally spoke.
"And where do you guys want me? I can handle close combat situations as well as sniping positions fairly well, but if you have something different in mind as to where I can go, I'm all ears. I can get in pretty quickly without being detected even without a cloak. Or if you want me to cover somone's back..."
It was then River realized she was rambling...again. And all eyes were on her.
"Oh...sorry."

Eric sighed audibly and could be seen leaning his crown into the bulkhead, eyes shut. He lightly bumped his head on it twice, unable to understand how people could still place stock in VIs after the reappearance of the geth.
Wonderful... shit hits the fan and our only chance of escape depends on a flying toaster that might decide it's too good for us...
Eric, head still against metal, breathed "Pleaaaaase make sure you have your pet calculator on a tight leash, then? Or that you can pilot the thing yourself by remote if you have to? It's your ass, too, if your ride goes mustang on us..."
He turned his head to one side, a familiar stream of verbage getting his attention.
"Hey, River... what do you feel is your best skill, honestly?"

Maelstrom clenched his fists hard before reminding himself that not everyone had the same experience with Emily he had. In fact, no one did. He was very careful to keep it that way.
Tapping back in, he said, "Trust me, Mr. Lysander, anyone who tries hacking this VI will lose their arm when their omni-tool fries itself. As for being able to pilot the ship, my omni-tool, which is coded to my specific biometrics, has piloting and targeting programs which bypass and override all VI control."

River appeared to consider Eric's query as he stood up straight and thumbed the intercom switch.
"Beautiful, Mr. Malestrom. Sensational. Then by all means partake in the festivities with us. I take it you'll be with the main group?"

Maelstrom considered the question before activating his audio input.
"My specialties are mid-to-short range combat with guns or use of biotics at any range." He chuckled, "Some people have referred to a particular talent of mine as 'true biotic artillery.' I have a sniper rifle, but I'm not going to claim to be the most skilled sniper we have going down- its more an option than a specialty for me. You can put me down in the thick of things or have me escort a long-range or technical team. Honestly, I'm generally leading missions against facilities, not handling securing dig-sites in areas as open as this, so I'll defer to my employer's judgment of where I'm most needed on the surface."

"Fine," Eric drummed his fingers on one side of the intercom. "So that's the Vengeance V... on evac standby... Mal the wild card playing at Mr. B's discretion. I need at least one more sniper with me. Three on the ridge would be great but better to have more units on the low ground, keep the enemy's focus there if the drones start to lag. Still open to recommendations on tactics and wherever one might feel the most useful..."

"I can clear the dig site on my own. If the snipers can hold most of them off, I can also hold the dig site myself, but I could use backup. If someone can back me up who has biotics, we would be able to alternate who holds the 'bubble.' It's an old Asari strategy, part of why we train and work in pairs when we're part of a militia. More could reinforce any of those positions as needed."

Iskra finished her medical field kit by sliding the laser surgical tool into the slot on her leg, the amount of usual medical supplies she carried on missions had to be tripled to account for the rest of the crew. She found herself glad she didn’t wear the heavy armor that so many on this ship seem to prefer, the extra supplies weighed on her slightly. Her speed is what kept her alive for so long and was her greatest asset in hand to hand.
Bringing up her omni tool, she decided now was the best time to speak up. “I have the appropriate skills to help either Mr. Lysander or Ms. Iregos. Whichever you think I would serve best with.”

"Honestly, I'm good wherever you want me. You need someone watching your back as a sniper, I can do that. You need someone for closed combat situations, I'm good there too. If anyone is open to the idea to a more stealthy approach, I have experience there too."
River was hoping she was doing a good job at downplaying the fact that she had experience with assassinations. It was one of her talents that not even her dad knew about. Her uncle Benny had showed her a couple of tricks of the trade in hopes of giving her added ways of protecting herself. But when Benny's condition started to worsen and treatment was becoming more and more expensive, River began taking assassin contracts in hopes of earning extra credits. The pay was, as expected, substantially exceptional. And as she would later come to realize, River had a natural talent for the art of assassination.
"As far as bioics go, I can't provide much in shielding, but trust me when I say that I can keep them off anyone who needs the cover. Not that I'm bragging or anything, I'm just saying..."

"My biotics are mostly for offensive use. Not much good for defending from swarms," Maelstrom said over the intercom. "They follow the old adage of 'The best defense is a good offense.' True or not, that's where my talents lie."

"Iskra, how are your barriers? If you know the fundamentals you should be able to help me protect the artifacts."
"It sounds like Maelstrom will be suited to helping push back enemy forces wherever they get most concentrated. Anyone with thick armor or heavy shields should join me in the dig site, reinforce the turret if needed. Who else do we have left who can cover the field with sniper-fire? I think at least three will be a good number."

“My skills are focused on protection and crowd control… I should be more than sufficient to help you hold barriers, Ms. Iregos.”

Esteban stood quietly, listening to everyone share their ideas. The plan was sounding a touch more reasonable to him, though military strategy remained outside of his area of expertise. He relied on the simple rule that helped him survive in business. Keep everything as simple as possible. Nothing in excess. He nodded thoughtfully, stroking his chin while everyone said their peace.
He turned toward Eric, once again gesturing toward the map. "How would you divide the team up?" Esteban asked, genuinely curious on the military man's opinion. "How do you divvy up the resources?"

Eric stood in thought for a couple of minutes, accounting for the positions and skill sets mentioned. He turned to Esteban. "Malestrom's made it pretty clear that he'd like to be the hammer to your Thor. Guess you two could work together..."
He looked towards River. "... maybe River can join me up on the ridge..."

Shala had sat silently during the discussion over the plan as she knew this was not her strength. And since it seemed like the observation post was going to be destroyed, there would be little need for her technical skills. But she knew she couldn’t hide on the ship while the others fought with the Collectors; that couldn’t be why she was hired, the ship already had technicians.
I’m not good with a sniper rifle, so it seems pretty obvious which team I’ll be with, doesn’t it?
She finally spoke up. “I will join Raesindra Iregos and her team,” she said. “As for my skills, my omnitool is capable of shooting fire, producing an electrical discharge, shooting a cryogenic blast and generating a combat drone. I also have some small automated sentry turrets that I can deploy. But I should warn you, I’m not a soldier, and I have been in only one battle…”
...she swung the shotgun desperately, catching the batarian in the side of the head…
“…so if anyone has a better idea on how I can best help us succeed, please let me know.”
She sat back and resumed listening.

Sitting silently through the whole discussion the brown haired scot had been looking at the map trying to guess the terrain of the battlefield. Thor was ready to go down in the hanger and could be deployed in a moments notice. " Aam nae much ay a tactical planner, but aam sure Ah could tak' those turrets out wi'mah mechs particle cannon. Ah doobt thaur expectin' a mech droopin' oan thaur heids." He said breaking his silence. He was used to the very odd looks people gave him when they first heard his thick accent. It didn't even bother him now.

"I have no problem teaming up with Eric," River said, trying to hide the blush that was starting to bloom in her cheeks.
