The turian looked at Maelstrom then back at the batarian, glaring at him. "Tch.." He remarked, seeming that was the only thing he would say. He typed on his omni-tool, opening a comm line to Eric. "The batarian decided to free your friend without your go.." He asserted, looking back to the batarian. He glares coldly through his visor, shaking his head in disappointment. "I don't care if that human is your friend or not, you disobeyed an order. Other than that, we could've got more data from your friends imprisonment." He responded, mad but in a collected tone of voice.

Eric attended to the scans coming up on his omnitool after he finished disciplining the group, trying to steady himself; there was too much to deal with at once. And to complicate things further this was not a group of Alliance grunts so they were not exactly beholden to his commands.
Shala’Bekk finished her own survey and reported "The door is made of some unknown material, and parts in the middle. It is not powered, but I can modify my omnitool to do that. No sign of any apparent traps or security measures."
“Good,” said Eric “Maybe if we get this door open the bugs’ll-"
"Maelstrom is no longer under the influence of the unknown alien entities,” intoned Emily over Eric and Shala’s comms. “Objectives fulfilled. Terminating contact."
What the? How?
"The batarian decided to free your friend without your go…”
Aractus provided the answer and then said to Cruendi’has “I don't care if that human is your friend or not, you disobeyed an order. Other than that, we could've got more data from your friend’s imprisonment."
Eric blew a large draught through his nostrils and engaged his comlink, allowing them both to hear him.
“Crue, we’re gonna hafta discuss your overwhelming sense of initiative. I thought I made it clear I’d be taking responsibility. If this was an Alliance op I’d have you in irons and bring you up for insubordination!”
Eric paused then noted “But this isn’t an Alliance op… it's not my show… thank you… we got more data than the Collectors have; that should count for something…”
The N7 veteran hoped that now that this latest crisis was averted the mercenary group would behave more like a team again, resuming exploration and securing the ruins. Taking another breath, he switched to the Mercenary in Black’s frequency.
Mal’s gonna kill me…
“Hey, Mal… you okay, buddy? How’re you feelin’?”

“Hey, Mal… you okay, buddy? How’re you feelin’?” Lysander piped in through the comms.
The whole thing was a bit fuzzy. He knew something had been controlling him, and that the lights given off by the bugs were somehow responsible. So much of what he understood was slipping through his fingers, though. It was like the information was on loan and had been taken with the vanishing of the lights. Aside from Cruendi'has's net and the fact that he held Meldom hostage, very little of it made sense anymore.
He cringed again at the intensity of the severely muted light in his HUD.
"Ever get in a drinking competition with a krogan? Then decide you can take on his buddy too? And then get in a headbutting competition with them?" Maelstrom groaned. "About how you'd feel the next morning."
He moved to get an arm under himself to push off the floor, before realizing he was still encased in the submission net's fibers.
"Thanks, Cruendi'has. Now, would you mind getting this damned thing off me?"

Cruendi'has let out a sigh of relief as Maelstrom fell down from the console and the bugs began to skitter away. He didn't care what the Turian said, whatever these things were up to, it was no good. "I don't care if that human is your friend or not," Artacus growled. "You disobeyed an order. Other than that, we could've got more data from your friends imprisonment." "Maybe next time we can volunteer you to give up your will in exchange for 'data,' if it's so important to you." Cruendi'has replied. “Crue," Eric chimed in. "We’re gonna hafta discuss your overwhelming sense of initiative. I thought I made it clear I’d be taking responsibility. If this was an Alliance op I’d have you in irons and bring you up for insubordination!” The Batarian was nearly ready to explode. He agreed to work WITH humans on this venture, not UNDER them. The disrespect was too much to stand. He opened his mouth to speak, but Eric spoke again. “But this isn’t an Alliance op… it's not my show… thank you… we got more data than the Collectors have; that should count for something…” Cruendi'has closed his lips and relaxed. It was then that Maelstrom found the strength to speak again. "Thanks, Cruendi'has." The Merc in Black squirmed under the net. "Now, would you mind getting this damned thing off me?" "No problem," Cruendi'has pulled up his omnitool and wirelessly released the net. He stepped toward the human and held out his hand. "I think I'm done seeing people enslaved." With his top pair of eyes, he glared at Artacus. "For any reason."

[GM Post]
We'll begin Chapter 6 soon. I'd like to wrap up Chapter 5 in a day or two with the Valiant taking off from Barce. Esteban will be heeding Eric's advice and setting up some sort of patrol while he goes through the dig site and attempts to figure out what is going on. So please wrap up everything that's going on. Certain things can be implied happened if you don't get to it (like interrogating the female, maybe fully exploring the base, etc. Just e-mail me and I can give you the results of it.
Chapter 6 is meant to be downtime between Chapter 5 and 7. If you want your character to do something interesting, please pitch it to me to make sure it'll flow. Like, if I have something planned with STG, I'd like to know if your character will be doing something with them, and so on. It's not me being a control freak, just wanting to make sure everything will flow right.
Sound good?

"Ever get in a drinking competition with a krogan? Then decide you can take on his buddy too? And then get in a headbutting competition with them?" Maelstrom groaned. "About how you'd feel the next morning."
Eric snickered. "Could've been a lot worse. Could've woken up naked in a hotel room and had ta explain to the old couple there how you thought it was your girlfriend's room when it never was...! Glad to have you back, Mal..."
The demo expert raised Esteban Bridges over the comms. "Well, Fearless Leader, you've got your dig site back. Scored a major find, saw the new scans... you got your money's worth and then some. It's been a damn busy day for all of us, which has to be the understatement of the year! I recommend we regroup and patch up while you figure out your next move. Our Collector friends may be overdue for a visit so maybe we should hang around too long with the shape we're in."
Eric stood up and dusted some of the soil from his suit legs. He walked up to Shala, thinking about how all that had transpired on the moon may have been affecting her.
"Hey, Shala... thanks for watchin' my back. How're you feelin'?"

Esteban nodded in agreement, taking one more glance around at everything in the room. His gaze drifted from object to object, considering the possibilities.
"Agreed," he finally said into the comm channel. "We should move. Give me five minutes to collect one or two things, and I'll be at the ship."
