A brief tap knocks against the medbay doors, rattling along quietly before a short thump of boots impacting the floor echo around the room. Karn would pop into view around the gathering of three people cooped up inside, himself making a short cough of sorts. He aimed to get their attention, if his bounding thumps from his meaty legs didn't already bring enough attention to him already. Would be surprising if anyone didn't, unless you were oblivious enough to ignore it.
"Here for the shots, didn't wanna' get them too late.", Karn gruffly speaks out, a tone more serious then his usual attitude. His view directs to the drell doctor, before speaking, "And I'm not afraid of a damn needle before you ask..", he gives out with a small chuckle.

Eric folded his arms and leaned on his side of the med bay door, smirking. "... I think the needle'd be more afraid of you, big guy! It's not an injection, really - it's a compound that works with your kinetic barriers. Loads inta th' generator."

Iskra patted Meldom's shoulder in a silent completion of the inoculation. The medbay had, once again, gotten very crowded as Eric joined them once again and Karn came barreling in.
"I will speak with you once Karn has received what he needs." Iskra addressed Eric before grabbing a new tube full of the serum.
"May I?" Iskra offered to Karn.

"May I?" Iskra offered to Karn.
Karn would give a little nod, before stepping forwards a little, showing where his little shield generator would be housed. Though it's probably surprising krogans would even consider shields, then again, the smarter man always lasted the longest. "S'all yours, doc'.", he would grunt out softly.

Morgan watched the doctor as she silently pulled a small device from her coat and handed it over.
"Asa will find what I need," the Drell said by way of explanation. "If you could just get her to a console, she will do the rest."
Before Morgan could ask any further questions, a Salaraian entered the bay, cluelessly walking in on what had been a very tense situation only moments before.
As Iskra turned to tend to the Salarian, Morgan slipped away. Not in any hurry to give away the fact that she had a device that would be deemed unusual, she moved quietly through the open doors into Iskra's private quarters. With her back to the wall beside the door, she investigated the device that was now in her possession.
It seemed to be a simple drive, but Iskra had referred to it by name, as if it was a VI. In the privacy of the room, Morgan plugged it into her omni-tool. She had no idea what sort of tech the Collectors employed, but they had no way of knowing if their input ports were the same format as the rest of the galaxy... Either way, Morgan felt better having a back-up, just in case.
Morgan was only half-listening to Iskra and the Salarian, but her ears perked back up as she overheard Eric's familiar voice instead.
“Iskra...? Do you have a minute to talk? One on one?”
Morgan paused, listening intently from her concealment. She was curious what their final decision would be on allowing Iskra to go on the mission or not, but before much else was said, she overheard Karn's deep, rumbling voice as well.
Pressing her back against the wall, she slid downward, taking up residence on the floor for the moment as she continued to look over the device Iskra had given her, waiting for the others to speak.

Iskra walked over to the Krogan and slid the tube into the slot. She could only imagine what Eric had to say, but at least for now, she knew that she'd get what she had come for.
"That is it." She finally says, pulling the tube from the Krogans back. "Everyone on board should be inoculated that will be on the base mission."

Meldom Nodded to Iskra as the inoculation was completed as a silent thanks before dropping down from the table as eric entered the room.
“Iskra…? Do you have a minute to talk? One on one?”
It was then that the Krogan came into the room, speaking about the injection "And I'm not afraid of a damn needle before you ask.."
One side of Meldoms mouth twisted upwards towards a smile If only he knew half the things i could put in a needle he thought to himself before she had finished.
"Everyone on board should be inoculated that will be on the base mission."
Meldom Nodded "Good, thanks Iskra" he looked to Eric before looking back to her "Will allow you two have privacy" he did a slight headtilt to Karn before leaving himself in the direction of the shuttle bay, to his claimed storage room.

“Got it. See you below deck,” Lysander said, leaving him alone with Bridges.
"I don't like this setup," Maelstrom said. "I feel like there are buttons being pushed by and unseen hand. Artacus goes berserk because of a message sent to him, which the mysterious stow-away is able to decipher and disprove. Now Iskra starts acting strangely. This is just a little too much strife for an experienced crew than I'm accustomed to. It almost feels like something is trying to push our crew over the edge before we have a chance to carry out this mission. If you have any idea who or what might be causing it, I'd like to know."

Esteban closed his eyes while Maelstrom spoke, listening carefully to every word the mercenary said. He had to concede the possibility that there was something afoot. There was not enough evidence to merit action, in his mind. But caution would always be prudient. He frowned, biting his lower lip as he weighed Maelstrom's words. He did not like the possibility. But if he was right.....
"We should speak over here," Esteban pointed to the training area, walking in the direction. "I installed sound dampeners. It will prevent anyone from listening in."
It was a simple device, really. Standard for most training faciliites. It would allow soldiers and mercenaries to be as loud as they desired without disturbing anyone around them. The sound would stay contained within a select area. Once both men were in the area, Esteban called up his omnitool and activated the dampeners.
"If there is someone manipulating, we have to consider the new variables to this crew," Esteban said plainly. He did not like the idea of accusing without proof. "We have two Asari and one stow-away on board that did not go through background checks. And there is..." Esteban paused. He would rather not share this piece of information. It seemed like a violation of privacy. But, he did not see any other option avaiable. "There is one piece of alien technology in the cargobay that Iskra had brought onboard that was not present in the previous mission. Any one of those new variables could account for this, assuming there is anything to be concerned about in the first place."

"Any one of those new variables could account for this, assuming there is anything to be concerned about in the first place," Bridges said.
He was right that there was no evidence, strictly speaking. It was more of a gut feeling. But gut feelings had obviously survived the evolutionary process for some reason. To Maelstrom, it indicated that were worth paying attention to as a means of guiding one's investigations.
"While that seems most likely, there is another possibility," Maelstrom said. "It could be that someone from Barce has switched sides. It could even be that such a person might have been working for the other side all along- that their employers simply found it more advantageous to let us succeed until recently. No one in particular comes to mind, but it is a chance.
"As for new factors, I believe we can ignore Enaya and Anelya. Put simply, if the goal is to spread distrust, I would have been their first target, given certain sensitive details about my personal history which I have shared with them. That and my typical disposition. If anything, they've been urging me towards becoming more trusting and in-harmony with the rest of you.
"Morgan seems a likely suspect to me. Not as a mastermind but as an able agent with significant ability and leeway. Again, though, there's no evidence.
"I can, personally, attest to technology having the ability to alter thought patterns. And I'm not just talking about Barce or having read some classified reports from Shepard."
He paused for a second. "There is one other new factor that you haven't considered, based solely on the background checks. Our new N7. Fischer. Well, I suppose Karn falls in that category too, but krogan generally aren't masterminds... can be, but usually aren't. If Udina somehow got wind of our mission, it's not difficult to conceive of him pulling some strings to create a record of a very promising team-member who is actually an agent working for him.
"I'm not making an accusation. I like Fischer well enough. I think he's too trusting- still stuck in the kind of thought patterns they teach you in Alliance basic training. Trusting people just on the merit of their abilities and being in your squad. The other end of the pendulum as myself, I suppose. Still, if we're examining all possibilities, it bears mentioning if nothing else."

"...if we're examining all possibilities, it bears mentioning if nothing else."
Esteban nodded grimly, feeling the weight of Maelstrom's words. If Maelstrom was right, there was another force at work. It could be Udina. Or, it could be another traitor in their ranks. Or...
"You know, I never had the chance to talk with Iskra about the findings that I made with her device," he finally admitted, though Maelstrom never pressed him on it. It was something he wanted to get off his chest. "All I did was give her a very brief preliminary finding of one part of the machine and the blueprints. There was enough information for her to do tests on the preliminary finding, but not much else. She left me with the impression that we would have talked more later on. There was a lot more to discuss with that machine."
Esteban sighed, taking a look over at where Eric left the vial of the anti-seeker countermeasure. "Most of it is hypothetical. The preliminary finding was the only part based on solid fact and hundreds of simulations. Everything else, closer to hypothesis or observation. Like, the machine could power itself without any discernible power source. Or...." Esteban shook his head, his eyes focused like a laser on the vial. "Or how the machine has no interface capability at all. It is designed to self-function. But without an obvious CPU within it, there is no way it can function at all. Yet, at one point, it apparently did.
Imagine it. A machine with no power to it, yet it could still operate. It is dangerous."
Esteban's head slowly rotated back towards the mercenary. His dark eyes set back on Maelstrom's.
"I need to find out more about this machine, Maelstrom," Esteban's voice was laced with determination. "And I am convinced that the Collectors have more information on this machine. I wish I could tell you more, but I have to keep my word to Iskra."
He took one more deep breath. "I don't believe it was the machine, though. There's not enough evidence. Iskra was in proximity to it. But not Artacus. It would not explain the Turian's behavior. Not that it matters at this point. Caution would be our best course of action."
"What do you plan on doing for Eric's team?"

"What do you plan on doing for Eric's team?" Bridges asked.
Maelstrom weighed his answer for a moment. "It depends on their cohesion. If infighting is likely to betray their position or compromise their tactical ability, I'll separate myself from the group and either scout ahead of them or create chaos in other sections of the base, to mask their true location. That way, I can still serve the mission without further endangering my own life. If they can move past this..." he waved his hand as if there were something tangible surrounding them in the room, "pointless drama, then I'll stay with the group to provide another gun and my biotic artillery."

"....then I'll stay with the group to provide another gun and my biotic artillery." Maelstrom answered.
Esteban nodded, approvingly at the simplicity of Maelstrom's decision. He believed his plan was the same. "My plan is straight-forward. When we arrive at the base, I can pull up the basic map and transfer it to everyone. I will take Joseph and Karn through the path of least resistance to the data core of the base and find the data we need, then withdraw back to the landing point. Joseph and Karn will be instruction to not hold anything back. If the N7 Destroyer and Krogan live up to their reputation, the only difficult part should be infiltrating the Collector system."

"...only difficult part should be infiltrating the Collector system."
"I still don't think you're taking enough muscle, but you're the boss here. It's your call to make. Just remember, there's no quick way to contact everyone in an emergency. It will be randomized, but Emily's jamming codes will only allow a communication window every one to three minutes, and it will only last the couple milliseconds required to transmit the electronic data compiled during that time," Maelstrom reminded.
"By the way, I'm still not planning on leaving until I see that you've used that countermeasure. I don't feel like losing anyone today. Even our stowaway."

"..... feel like losing anyone today. Even our stowaway."
Esteban cocked an eyebrow at Maelstrom. "Unless you want me to remove my armor to install it, I am afraid you will have to be the one to inject it if you are set on seeing it happen. The intake is in the back."

"Just bring up the diagram on your omni-tool to show me the port."
Esteban extended his arm out to his side so it would be visible to Maelstrom. "Data," he called out to his VI. "Display schematic 1701-F, basic version. Highlight medical intake by shield generator, 3D mode."
"Of course sir," his VI replied in its cool, android-simulation voice before Esteban's omnitool transformed. The hard light turned into neon blobs, only to change again into a perfect replication of the back of his armor. A small section by the shield generator glowed a gentle blue."
"That should do it," Esteban said, turning his head so he could see Maelstrom. "Just insert the vial."

[Quick GM Post]
Karn nodded a thanks to Iskra before lumbering toward the exit. He patted Eric on the shoulder as he passed, disappeared out the door.... heading for the docking bay
* sent Karn's player a couple messages telling him about this post. I believe this is exactly what Karn would do.

Iskra watched as the Krogan left the medbay before replacing the tube in the tray. "What is going on Eric?"

Seeing that he and Iskra were indeed alone, he spoke to her quietly.
“Well… we won’t need to worry ‘bout going behind Bridges’ back. He’s a businessman after all. He’ll find you your data. I didn’t breathe a worda what you told me; he volunteered it himself. Just the part about your hiring him, not the stuff you talked about. He also won’t have a problem with you sitting out this mission or not. In fact he’s heading up the team taking over the base command center; he’s only takin’ Karn and Joe with him. I’ve got everyone else for the rescue team… I can sure use a medic and another sharp eye on deck. But again, I can still make do if you don’t wanna go…”
