"Works for me," Joe said. "We just got to make sure that we take out their air wing before bringing the shuttles in. The dropships shouldn't be too hard, some well-placed charges will do the trick. The frigate, though..."
He shook his head.
"We'll waste a lot of firepower trying to take it out from the outside," he said. "Or our infiltration team will have to board her, tear her apart from the inside and hope..."
His voice trailed off as he looked around the room, then chuckled and shook his head.
"We could bring in the Xiphos once we take out their turrets and dropships," he said. "Between that and our shuttles, we should be have enough firepower to take it out. Or is that too big of a risk, bringing in our only ticket out of here?"

Rula'an looks at the frigate displayed and says, "I'm familiar with the inner workings of that frigate. We have several in the Migrant Fleet. I can send the best points to hit to our infiltrators if you want me to," he then leans back observing once more.

Izahm looks at the terrain and says, "My bird can land just fine. I installed special thrusters and landing gear for just such a purpose," he then looks over at Rula'an, "If you can that would be appreciated. It would cut down on how much Time we have to spend inside that thing."

"Wasn't sure if you guys were reluctant to have your dreamboats get scuffmarks," defended Lysander of his aim to keep the landing pad intact. "I remember that mission where Mal's... I'll just say that it took a lotta time and money ta put her back together and I'm sure he doesn't wanna go through that again."
He motioned to Rula'an. "Upload your data on the frigate."
[Insert response/comment by Rula'an, if any]
Turning to the junior N7 he said "Xiphos' stealth abilities can keep it in play longer than if it didn't. But all the same I wouldn't risk playing that card until its time ta make our getaway. By then they can't shoot back with their AAs or call for help."
[Insert response/comment by Joseph, if any]
"So, a quick stealthy rush into the frigate to wax its crew and knock the pins outuva a few key bulkheads to neutralize it. Det packs for the other ships and that keeps our pirates grounded for the duration. Gassing the barracks should further reduce their response capacity anywhere between 5 and, if it's a really good day, 15 percent. As for who's left, some may pose a challenge. For those hard cases I'll see if I can machine up some o' my sonic spikes. They're also good for lock-picking and sowing a little structural mayhem when applied correctly."
Eric looked to his two techs. "I can send you guys the schematics to look over if you want."

Joe nodded at Lysander's thoughts on bringing their main ship into the mission.
"Fair enough," he said, shrugging. "So, moving onto the extraction team: do we start our run the same time as the infiltrators or wait until they start sowing chaos?"

"I wouldn't have a separate assault and extraction team. Bringing the shuttles in while there are still pirates on the ground is just a bad idea. What if one of them has a heavy weapon?" Maelstrom said. "I have a combined combat team, clearing out the pirates before evacuating the civies. If we find ourselves in a situation where there's a group that needs to be guarded and can't simply be put into lockdown out-of-the-way, then one of the combat team stays back and stands guard while the rest keep clearing out the enemy."

"So you are suggesting we all stick together through the entire operation?" Ghorith said. "I'm concerned about the hostages. If that is what we do, and the alarm is raised before we reach them, the pirates could move them somewhere else or..."
He shook his head.
"In my experience, criminals rarely keep hostages alive in situations like this," he said.

"And then there's the matter of the database," Geneenh chimed in. "If I don't get there before they discover us, they'll probably destroy it so that no one else can access it, then getting it back from them will make this mission a whole lot harder."

"We'd hardly be all together," Maelstrom said. "If we send guards with the techs, they should be snipers. Then we're controlling the flow of the battlefield. Then there is the infiltration team. After setting the charges, they could locate and secure the database. Then, as I said, the dedicated combat team could leave members behind from its main force to guard hostages if necessary."

Thrak grunted. "Smiley has a point. If we have three teams of two on specialist objectives, that only leaves four of us for an assault team... That's not a lot for clearing entire buildings of pirates. Less, and you start having people sneaking up behind you."

Izahm speaks up a plan forming, "Rula'an you said you're the only tech who needs a guard right?" (Insert reply if any) "Well that means only one person needs to stay behind and guard him. I'm not an engineer but I do have some tech skills. I could get to the database secure a transfer to Rula'an through the turret hard connection then secure it until Geneenh gets there to complete the transfer. That leaves Emily free to either stay with me or join the combat team either taking out strays and targets of opportunity ahead of time or stragglers the combat team missed," he then lets them process his plan before continuing, "This way even if the Pirates destroy the database we won't lose all the data and the combat team has one possibly two more members."

Post by Eric Lysander on Aug 17, 2017 9:23:46 GMT -6
Eric consulted the map again, considering the words of his teammates while recalling one of Commander Shepard’s past exploits. A mission where pirates had taken scientists hostage, drugging them and using them as shields. The report stated while the fighting was fierce the scientists were far too affected by the drugs to know what exactly was happening though a few wandered dangerously between lines of fire. Eric reconsidered his earlier proposal of only exposing the barracks to partial atmosphere. There would be pirates scattered throughout, walking perimeter, standing guard, horsing around if they could get away with it. Usually those pirates of lower rank or who were working off a reprimand or debt would have to do grunt work. Patrol outside…
“Okay, here’s my take… the landing pad is the only well-lit spot with everything else dark,” Eric began “If we split in half, each group can come in from the opposite side of the canyon after disabling the AA guns. Maybe even have our LEDs and lights modded to match the plant life for some added cover. Then one group’ll vent the barracks, the other the science lab, our techs tying in and locking down both facilities tight inside and out. Everyone trapped in whatever room they’re in. Only the vorcha, quarians and any pirate who just happened to be coming back in or about to head out in a sealed suit will still be in play. Their techs’ll be workin’ to force open the doors again, tryin’ to alert th others.”
“Our heavies can storm the science lab and secure the server room. A tech can be left behind to set up shop – with sniper cover, shut down their transmitter and grab the research data. Maybe even provide a few more technical difficulties for the enemy. The heavies can then head back to deal with forces outside. Before the hit on the lab starts, an infiltrator group can sneak onto the landing pad and plant charges on the smaller dropships. When the fun starts they’re more likely to be scrambled first. Popping the dropships should stun the frigate crew long enough to get a couple of our stealth specialists inside to bleed and ground ‘em…”
Eric looked at Gorith. “You’re right about the hostages. Hopefully the alcohol in the atmosphere keeps the pirates addled enough to keep from pulling the trigger.”

Izahm looks at Maelstrom and says, "I was not part of that mission if you can recall unless that was directed at Lysander and Joe," he listens to Lysander's plan and nods, "Alright that sounds like a good plan. A double pronged attack will catch them off guard. And gassing the habitats is a good idea as well."

Rula'an then speaks up, "Am I no longer staying up top by one if the turrets providing unrestricted interference? Because I'm not an excellent fighter. It's why I chose to do technological warfare," he looks at the display then thinks on Lysander's plan, "However I'm confident Geneenh and I wirking together can facilitate the data transfer and interference locally as you suggested."

Ghorith shook his head at Lysander.
"Hope is not a plan," he said. "Hope is saying that we are unable to face a challenge the gods have given us and we expect them to solve it for us. They will not reward us in our next life if we are so weak-minded.
"Your dossier says you are a former N7, as is Fischer," he said. "I served in the SIU and Thrak and Geneenh have centuries of experience in their fields, not to mention the others. Surely we can come up with a better plan than hope."

"I have a concern about your plan, Lysander," Naetilia said. "If we vent the living quarters, the hostages would now be defenseless. If we render them defenseless, we must then protect them, because I am certain not all of the pirates will be incapacitated when we vent the living quarters."
