Eric reached the bottom of the rockface and ran for the dig site as fast as possible, listening to his teammates efforts to bring down the Praetorian.
River spoke up over the coms "Guys, my weapons aren't doing much damage from here. This thing is built to last. We may need to try a different approach. Biotic attacks might work. Weaken its barrier enough to hit it with the heavy stuff."
"Hey... what about that whammy you biotics do?" Eric puffed as he got closer to the action. "That black hole whatchamacalit... sucks everything into one point... that could weaken it... hold in place, too, so we can hit it..."

After the last collector fell he made his way back to the mech kicking the dead collectors "not so tough now" he says with a light hearted voice. He heard his team mates talk about the new foe, while looking at the mech for visable damage "thing can take a beating, not sure if wise to use it further"

"You mean a singularity?" River said into her comm. "I can't do that...but there is something I can do."
God, this is such a damn idea...
"I need to get close enough for my biotics to do some real damage. I can try a Nova attack, get a running start and pile-drive that son of a bitch start down the middle."

Esteban leaned his head to the right, staring straight down the barrel at his next target. His HUD flashed all around his field of vision, telling him everything he needed to know. There wasn't any wind to take account of. But that's no surprise since Barce had no atmosphere. His target was a half click away, so he didn't have to adjust his aim with his powerful M-99 Saber. The Collector was well within range. All he had to do now was pull the trigger.
And he did, just as the mech crashed down. His helmet sensors lit up like fireworks, warning him he was about to hit a friendly. Esteban instinctively threw his gun to the side, hoping it would be enough to not tag a teammate. Fortunately his shot went mercifully wide, missing the Collector and the mech.
The businessman crouched low, watching everything unfold. He took a breath, reminding himself to be patient. Wait for his time to strike. He saw the mech unleash hell, the female Quarian seemingly panic. He saw the dig site flash with light, hinting at the raging battle. More importantly for him, he saw the Collectors dying and dying.
From his crouched position, he raises up his Saber once again, bracing the butt of the rifle on his shoulder... staring down the barrel once again. His hand was under the rifle's frame, holding it deathly still. He wasn't going to waste another shot. He waited a second longer, confirming with Data on the position of the enemies and allies before squeezing the trigger again...
And saw another Collector drop with a dime-sized hole in its head.

The mech was closer than ever, as he had been forced into an unfamiliar, poorly-mapped section of the labyrinth to stay out of its fire. And now he was down another thermal clip.
"I wouldn't suggest anyone get in close to this thing unless you can do so from behind and get to cover before it can see you," he called, quickly turning another corner as a blast from the Praetorian's eyes caught the back of his shields. Momentary, but down twenty percent.
The narrow pass took another turn, but he noticed a triangular piece of metal, no more than a hand's length at its widest, but almost four feet in length. As the giant enemy turned the corner, Maelstrom backed used his biotics, attempting to quickly raise the pointed end in the direction of the Praetorian and use the same rapid acceleration trick he so often did on the grenades. He knew he had enough boitic potential to try it and aim accurately- right between the eyes- but he did not know how the metal would respond.

Eric arrived at the dig site, coming up behind River. "'Kay River, just tell me where you want me to lure that thing so you can do yours." He fished his side and produced a grenade disc. "If you manage to crack it's hide, wedge this in there and get clear. Little meat tenderizer; my own recipe. Packs a bit more punch than your standard grenade. Nothin' but the best for these things!"

As River holstered her weapon and prepared herself to jump on top the Praetorian passed by, she gave one last look to Eric. "One more thing. What I'm about to do...eh, may very well kill me so, you know...it's been a pleasure."

As the young mercenary readied herself she looked to Eric and made a foreboding statement.

Eric armed his assault rifle and gripped River's shoulder. "No... I've seen one too many people your age buy it. Almost joined 'em myself. You saved my life today so there's no way in hell I'm gonna let you throw yours away! You're gonna survive! We're doin' this together, got me?!"

[GM Post: Final Round]
On a personal note, I am very impressed with the plan to attack the Praetorian
Enemy Left: 1 Praetorian. - Status: Heavily damaged - The shots it's taken to the eye and body, in combination with the extensive grenade and biotic damage... and to top it all off, the plan (which will work to perfection) to crack open it's shell to shove the explosive in... - The Praetonian will die this round, provided everyone keeps up the firepower on it.
Nicely done!

"Guys, my weapons aren't doing much damage from here. This thing is built to last. We may need to try a different approach. Biotic attacks might work. Weaken its barrier enough to hit it with the heavy stuff." River reported. Cruendi'has winced. "If only I'd taken the advanced course on aerial-based biotic attacks." The Batarian changed out his thermal clips and palmed a grenade. He was unsure if a grenade designed to lift an enemy out of cover would matter much against one that was already in flight. So useful, his old training turned out to be in a real fight. "I wouldn't suggest anyone get in close to this thing unless you can do so from behind and get to cover before it can see you," Maelstrom advised. "Just keep its freaking lazer beams on you," Cruendi'has told Maelstorm. "And I can offer up a little bit of pain." He jumped up from cover and took a shot. Out of the corner of his eyes he saw the madwoman, River, running full tilt at the Praetorian. "I'm surrounded by goddamn crazy humans." He mumbled to himself. "And none of them are even trying to kill me." Cruendi'has couldn't help but grin. "Never thought I'd see the day."

Even as Shala sprinted back towards the dig site, she knew she would not not make it back in time to help.
So, how does it feel to fail your crewmates? her mother whispered.
"No, I won't," she said, coming to a halt. She summoned another drone and it raced ahead of her, as if it was eager to join the fight.

With the others finally coming in closer, Maelstrom did not dare to use any of his last three grenades. While more prudent from the aspect of self-preservation than exhausting his remaining thermal clips, he just did not have it in him. Not when it could end up being Shala'Bekk or Iskra, or even Lysander or Cruendi'has paying the price if his aim with his nearly-exhausted biotics was off. Instead, he pulsed his SMG in even shorter bursts than he had been, never letting it rev to full. He was nearly stumbling through the ruins from his exertions. But the important thing was, the others were helping. It would be over soon. It had to be.

River waited until Eric was in a good position, as well as the Praetorian while she prepared herself to leap upon the creature. There was little time in second guess herself now. It was getting close to the wire.
Even she had to admit that this plan could very kill her, if not the Praetorian first. Doing Nova attacks were extremely dangerous for her as an Adapt. Usually the skill was only reserved for Vanguards, but thanks to Cerberus as well as their experiential L3 implant in her head, she was capable of doing much more with her biotics than most. Still, she couldn't help but think back to the last time she put out such a large amount of biotic energy.
The memory of what happened was still pretty fuzzy, but it was enough that she eventually woke up in a hospital after a month long coma.

As Esteban Bridges' team of hired guns kept the Praetorian occupied, River took up position some distance away from Eric behind the base of a dirt incline with a good angle to get a running jump. Eric exhaled hard; his young partner had more than proven her worth today. It was time to return the favor. Eric accessed his suit systems via his omnitool.
*] ENGAGE BOMB DISPOSAL PROTOCOL LEVEL III...
ACKNOWLEDGED
KINECT BARRIERS INCREASED TO FULL STRENGTH SERVO TENSION AT 75% HELMET BRACES LOCKING - CAUTION: HELMET MOBILITY NULLIFIED
Eric then thumbed off the safety of his rifle and ran to within feet of the hovering terror, spraying its front liberally with projectiles. One managed to hit in the right spot to have it turn about to spot him. The brash mercenary pointed his rifle up and angled his torso to afford a look straight at the monster's "face." He shouted, forgetting that it was only his teammates that would hear him over their comm linkup.
"C'MON YA METAL BASTARD - HAVE A GO IF YA THINK YOU"RE HARD ENOUGH!"
The Praetorian obliged the newest target, charging and firing its laser, tracking the beam into the ground towards Eric. Eric leapt to one side narrowly dodging the beam, scrambled upright and pounded the ground with the creature in pursuit. Eric spun his whole frame about in rapid intervals to check if it was powering up another shot; there was a two second window between the corona and the beam. Eric reached the incline and then ran in the direction opposite intending to get the Praetorian's back to it. The turn allowed Eric to see the corona charge. As another beam pierced outwards, Eric tripped and fell backwards. He rolled away averting another blast but the beam was close enough to affect his barriers. The Praetorian initiated another build up.
"TOUCHDOWN, RIVER!!! SPIKE THAT BALL!!!"

"Amonkira, guide my hand. May my feet be swift and my strength be enough. And should the worst come to past, give me guidance to your shore."
Kissing her medallion and tucking it back under her shirt, River leapt from her perch and landing right on the Praetorian. The creature let out a ear-piercing scream, wildly bucking in an effort to throw her off. River wasted no time in getting to work. Building up enough biotic energy into her fist, she delivered a hard blow to the Praetorian's hard shell. The surface barely cracked, so she punched it again. And again, and again, and again and again until the shell finally cracked through.
By the time she reached into Praetorian's inside, her head felt like it was going to explode. Her implant was working overtime. She was pushing herself biotics as hard as they could go and behind. Her vision blurry and she could felt blood pumping loudly through her ears and out her nose.
She shoved the grenade disc in as far as it could go and shouted, "FIRE IN THE HOLE!!"

[GM Post: Results - Victory]
The explosion ripped through the last enemy, causing it to erupt a sudden prismatic firy display... only to extinguish just as quickly.
And with that, the battle is over.

River leapt on top of the Praetorian, causing it to lurch back and forth, forcing it to power off its laser. Eric was on his feet again as she struggled and pounded the top of the creature's shell repeatedly with a glowing blue fist. The elder mercenary dashed over and up the incline noting that each of River's strikes were further apart from the last. He could her her grunting over the comms - she was fighting to stay concious as she made an opening.
With one last surge she plunged Eric's grenade deep into the gaping hole.
"FIRE IN THE HOLE!!"
As she slumped over, Eric bounded onto the Praetorian. Gripping tightly with one hand, his free arm wrapped around River's waist and pulled her free. He then jumped and pushed off, keeping himself between the younger mercenary and the enemy. The grenade's pressure-triggered fuse expired and the Praetorian evaporated into a brief multi-colored, pyrotechnic display. The creature's mass effect fields dissapated and it succumbed to the local gravity, plopping down in an unceremonious heap. The shockwave of the blast tossed and rolled Eric and River a short distance down to the bottom of the incline River made her killing leap from. Warning beeps blared inside Eric's helmet and a couple of parts on his armor were steaming. But he was alive. He groggily pushed up from the ground, off of River. He turned her and held her in his arms, trying to revive her.
"River...? River...! C'mon, wake up, kid; ya did it...!"
Peering through the glare of her helmet, he saw the blood trickling from her nose.
"DOC...?! I NEED HELP - RIVER'S DOWN!"

Maelstrom laughed maniacly when he tuned to see the Praetorian go up in a brilliant flash of light. It was finally over. Then he heard Lydander's comms call for help. He would have gone, but he knew what he was good for and where he would just get in the way. Instead, he sent Emily the signal to come retrieve him, in case the girl needed the Valiant's medbay... a near certainty if there was a suit puncture.
Knowing he could do no more, he removed his bag from its compartment in his armor and started looting. He figured he would get the girl a present or two, since she was out cold. Maybe she would even have the decency to not try shooting him with a gun he gave her.

Meldom had finally reached the praetorian as it died, he saw river punching the horror over and over, ripping at its shields with impressive biotic ability My god..That must be hurting her just as much as it he thought. Then there was a massive explosion, as he reached the things corps saw river on the ground with Eric standing over her.
"DOC...?! I NEED HELP - RIVER'S DOWN!"
To be expected he thought as he hastily ran over to see river turning his omni tool on to scan her Impressive biotics.. But could an probably caused brain hemorrhage.. He ran a quick scan on her brain to make sure it was not damaged and to check that her Implant had not fried What the.. he thought as he saw the L6 Implant L6.. holy crap.. thought they were still working out the kinks, While she did not seem to have any injuries that his battlefield medical scanner could detect there was most likely problems he could not detect.
"Adrenalin spiked, Endorphin level is higher then it should be, probably will go into shock soon, nerve damage.. most probable need to get her somewhere stable.." he coughed almost switching out of his worried doctor voice You are not in STG anymore.. "Iskra" he called through the comms "We need you..Now"

"Yeah!" Cruendi'has roared as the Praetorian split apart and fell. "Alright!" If he wasn't wearing his helmet, he'd wipe the sweat off his brow, maybe even kiss River right on the mouth. Cruendi'has cringed immediately as the image crossed his mind. Either way, It was finally done. And without a second to spare, as he now thumbed at his final thermal clip. "DOC...?! I NEED HELP - RIVER'S DOWN!" Lysander came over the comms. Cruendi'has stepped toward the downed biotic, but out of the corner of his eyes he witnessed not untypical of humans. Maelstrom pull a bag out and began to gather what artifacts the Collectors or Prothians happened to leave behind. The mercenary with a smile on his helmet displayed the greed buried deep in his genetics. "I see you don't waste time where its TRULY important," said the Batarian to the Human. Cruendi'has realized, now, the possible reason the human jumped at the chance to move on the dig site in the first place. Loot the room while the others do the dirty work. The bastard might've even had his V.I. piloted dropship pick him up before anyone even had time to react. Perhaps it was to everyone's advantage the Praetorian popped its head up-- everyone but River.
