Hey Maelstrom and I were talking recently about the overarching story. I'd rather not follow the story of Mass Effect 3. And it's not because of the ending. I think it would be far more interesting to let the players and the actions of everyone help influence the direction and progress of what happens. Plus, I'd like to keep things loose enough to allow for the unexpected. Unless everyone would like the story to still follow a rough outline of the events of ME3. It's up to all of you! I put up a poll to vote. Voting will last till 5/30/2014

So how would that work, the reapers come or don't, shepard somehow dies ? or we just let it all happen but we ignore what is happening.

Nah, I'd rather follow the story of Mass Effect 3, really because i'm very strict to the lore. I have problems cooping with fan made lore in an already existing universe and it just messes with me.

Well, don't forget to click the poll no matter your opinion. Otherwise, it doesn't count (like voting).

I don't mind diverging from the ME3 lore, but I think we should keep in the big stuff (Reapers invade and Shepard saves the day). Other than that, let's go where our imaginations take us!

I wasn't suggesting doing something like ignoring the game and throwing it away. There are events that just makes sense. The fall of Thessia. The genophage problem. I can see all this happening. There are other things that I kinda disagree with (not the ending), like the Geth/Quarian conflict... again.
Let me ask this... what events would you like to see play out from Mass Effect 3? Any you'd like to avoid or change?

The best way to describe my feelings would be to get rid of everything after the fall of Thessia and to tweak how Cerberus got its army. Keep everything before the fall of Thessia. I don't say that just because of the ending. For me, up until our assassin friend popped in on Thessia, things made sense. After he showed up that time, reason really seemed to fly out the window. It wasn't structured like Mass Effect anymore.

I agree with Maelstrom.

The Fall of Thessia was such an emotional event... until ninja-bitch showed up. The desperation, the hope, the Asari throwing themselves at the Reapers in an attempt to open the way for Shepard.
We prefer to create our own story, there is so much going on in the galaxy that there is plenty of room for expansion as well as modification.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying we follow Shepard into battle or go to the same planets. Just think that those actions should be taking place somewhere. We'd naturally be off doing our own thing our own way.

Can't really say myself; I never played part 3.
I just don't think you necessarily have to "end" a character's storyline by literally ending them!
