(I planned to write some more of Meldoms backstory ages ago but i honestly just forgot and did not feel up to it. After reading what i put before and making minor corrections i now write this hope you enjoy, I probably trailed off at the end as this took me most of the day to write, i was constantly changing things i did not like or thought did not work well. I apologize if the writing is sub-par or if the story just seems bad.)
Meldom was glad to be back on Sur'kesh to breath the air, to see the sights. No matter how much time away there was always that feeling of peace when he returned that feeling of belonging, As he departed the ship a small armed escort walked near him "Meldom Wake" their leader said "By order of STG command you must come with us" He stared at them all in turn "I guess this is no welcome party then.." he said before nodding "Come on then.." he started to walk but the leader stopped him and raised his gun "You must wear these" he said throwing a pair of handcuffs at him "Really ?" Meldom uttered before clasping the cuffs tightly around his arms and lifting them to show the salarian "Happy now ?" he said walking towards the door.
As he entered the room through there was 5 Salarians sitting on high desks overlooking the room, several guards were positioned next to each one. A small chair for Meldom was brought out and he was made to sit down. "So.. Meldom" one of them started "We know quite a bit about you.. Several doctorates in Chemistry, Impeccable record and a strong bloodline.. tell us.." the salarian started quietly before raising his voice "Are you mad!" Stared at them each in turn "If i was i surely would not know, often you don't know if you are mad yourself.." One Salarian smashed his hand on the desk "You know what we mean!" he screamed "Over a million lives lost!" Meldom stood and shouted back "At the cost of our secrets!" he cleared his throat before talking again "Respectfully you were not there, had no choice, only option at the time.. my superior said no cost was to great thus assumed i had full control to do whatever needed.."
The Salarians settled down after hearing him and started to speak again "You did have full control to do what was needed, but you just decided that the whole planet was up for extermination! Several eye witnesses said you just decided it in a few seconds and then even laughed! You crossed the line.. way past the line infact, i know your type Meldom, its all /look at me i can do anything and get away with it/" Meldom shouted back "Its not like that at all.. You think you have it tough sitting down passing judgment, you are old, probably forgot what its like to be out there..". Two of the 5 Salarians stood up and started shouting different things till one in the middle silenced them by raising a hand.
"Meldom" he spoke with an old croaky voice "I do believe you when you say you think you did what was neccicary.. but we feel as a group that there was other ways, you could have made a deal with him, blocked all signals going offworld.. you HAD options, yet you did not choose them..why ?" The Salarian seemed to need to catch his breath before speaking again, before he could Meldom spoke up once more "As i said, no time. Had to make the call only option, i was sure he either had contacts on that planet or near enough that the files would have been sent at the end of the day blame it on pirates and move on like we usually do.." there was a twinge of desperation in Meldoms voice "You all don't realize what it was like.." he looked down at his cuffs "And now i live with the cost".
The old Salarian Nodded as Meldom spoke "Fellow Commanders.. i do believe he acted in our best interest.. as we all know this was a mission to test if he would be put forward for a Spectre, I'm sure that he would be an asset to them.." there was a few mummers of disagreement but he ignored them and spoke again "However.. such a horrid act.. using our own weapons on our own people.. you cannot be trusted, we hand you over to the council for spectre training and who knows what you will do or become, you could become someone who helps the galaxy or harms it.. we must sentence you...to die.. as a example for the rest. i do not make this decision lightly as we loose a great asset we also loose a piece of ourselves."
Meldom locked eyes with The old man a second before the Door burst open and a Salarian female almost ran up towards where Meldom was sitting and spoke with a voice commanding authority "You will stop this now!" it boomed a guard ran up to the members sitting down and spoke "I'm sorry, The dalatrass, she just came in sir.." Meldom smiled in the direction of the five Salarians "Hello mother.." One of the salarians looked at Meldom then back to the Dalatrass before piecing it together and uttering a single word "Crap"
The dalatrass stood between Meldom and the group sitting at the desks as the old Salarian spoke "Dalatrass.. you honor us." he started but she did not let him finish "Don't give me that you and i both know we are not here for nice talk so lets skip it.. What are you planning on doing to my son" she asked staring intently at the old Salarian "The sentence has been.." "Oh don't give me that, you just need him to be killed or exiled to prove your point that no one is untouchable.. let me tell you something, for all the amount of power you wield you are not untouchable.. maybe i should make the example out of you lot"
The court was in uproar, things were being shouted back and fourth constantly until Meldom was addressed by his mother "Wait outside" she simply said, He stood up and walked towards the door throwing the handcuffs back at the guard who ordered him to wear it "Might want these back, terrible lock by the way, only took a minute to crack.." he said walking out of the hall. As he closed the door the dalatrass and the other salarians were in a heated shouting match.
Meldom leaned on the edge of the balcony and sighed "Great" he muttered as he waited for things to finish up. After half a hour the dalatrass walked back out of the doors and approached him "Everything will be alright now, they just needed reminding of a few things.." Meldom smiled and nodded "Any bad blood, guess I'm no longer STG" she looked at him and placed a hand on his shoulder "Honerable discharge with the option of coming back if you can prove it.. somehow but i guess they won't let you back in, best try in a few years when they are replaced to let wounds heal". Meldom nodded as he turned towards the ship that took him here "Going to Citadel till this calms down.. if it ever does, guessing a few People want me dead.. or worse" he said as started to walk.
Just as he entered the door his mother spoke out once more "Meldom.. You cannot do anything like that again.. once was bad enough but doing it again might destroy you as a person" he nodded once more silently and entered she ships airlock, Not long after it unclamped from the dock and began soaring into the atmosphere and towards the mass relay to get to the citadel.
