"So I concentrate the biotics in my chest then release it all in a rush from every node in my body," Izahm says as Niniah once again tells him the bare basics of a flare. "Yes Izzy," Niniah says as cool as ever, "That's the bare basics but we need to move past that and onto actually flaring. That requires you to focus the biotic energy into your chest then releasing it into all the nodes in your body but still not releasing it then you face your target and only then do you release it." Izahm nods once more trying it but all he succeeds in doing is making himself glow. "You're not focusing hard enough it must come from deep within yourself," Niniah says standing next to him then begins to glow like Izahm but her's is more subdued and controlled until finally she releases it in a flash of biotic light followed shortly by the training dummies going flying in multiple directions. "Okay okay all I need is more practice," Izahm says rolling his eyes at her display when his arm suddenly tingles, "Oh hey i got a message." He opens it and starts reading it as he does his face breaks into a grin. Izahm turns to face Niniah the grin still on his face as he says "He guess what Nin we found our next Merc target. It's a Blue Sun's depot that's under attack by Eclipse. Two birds one stone." Niniah glances over the ghost of a smile on her lips then she says, "Alright how soon can we get there?" Izahm checks his Omni-tool once again and says, "About an hour, care for more training?" Niniah shakes her head and says, "Sorry I must perform my battle meditations, I will see you on the shuttle Izzy," Izahm nods then after she leaves begins practicing his flare techniques. After a while he gives up throwing his hands up and half shouting half saying, "It's freakin hopeless I'm never going to get this!" He then slams his fist into a punching bag accidentally activating his biotics full strength causing the bag to go flying across the gym and explode. "Whoops," he says walking away and heading for his quarters where his armor and guns are, "Hope I don't have to pay for that."
"You know the fact that we're going in with almost zero intel and you're as calm as ever both intrigues and frightens me," Izahm says piloting the UT-47 into the mountain side hangar bay for a landing, "What makes you so calm during combat?" Niniah sitting next to him doesn't deign to reply simply looking at the cockpit displays, "Alright then we're on final approach." Izahm eases the shuttle in for a landing bouncing only once before coming to rest. He unstraps himself as Niniah does the same. He checks over his weapons once more before popping the side hatch and exiting the shuttle. "Eerie isn't it?" Izahm says softly, "This silence?" Niniah who has just left the shuttle nods and says just as softly, "Yes it is eerie very much so." They flick on their helmet lights and the lights on their weapons flooding the area in LED brilliance. "Look over there," Izahm says pointing with his Revenant's flashlight at a huge streak of blood, "It looks as if a mech smashed it's fist into a body and dragged it along the wall but there's no body?" "In fact I don't see any bodies whatsoever," Niniah says sweeping her Disciple back and forth. "It's strange and I don't hear any gunfire either," Izahm says when suddenly a flicker of movement catches his attention. He immediately swings his Revenant into position and silently signals to Niniah that he has something in his sights. She nods her acknowledgement then begins stealthily creeping to the side flanking whatever is in front of Izahm as he activates his tech armor then says loudly, "Hello?" then crouches and waits for a response. After a while with no response he begins slowly moving forward gun held ready and then he suddenly jumps up and rolls behind the boxes Revenant held ready. A screech of alarm is all he gets before a large and heavy mass hits him square in the chest. Suddenly hands begin clawing at his helmeted face as he struggles to remove whatever's on him. Just as suddenly there is a flare of light from off to his right followed by him and whatever was on him going flying but he feels the weightlessness of a lift field and re orientates himself with the ground just as the lift field dissipates. He flares his biotics to steady his fall then lands with a solid thunk as his boots touch the ground. Once there he immediately runs over to where whatever was on him landed. "Oh jeeze," he gasps as it is nothing more than a young emaciated Asari. "Niniah what happened to her?" Izham says kneeling before her, "She seems delirious." Niniah frowns at the Asari then steps forward only to put her hand on Izahm's shoulder saying, "We should leave this place." "What why there could be more young Asari further in," Izahm says when he notices something he has never before seen in an Asari let alone a Justicar, fear, he saw fear deep unbridled fear in her eyes. He gets up and moves away from the child, "What is wrong Nin?" he asks concerned. "I just realized I had seen that kind of blood stain before," Niniah says in a hushed whisper, "Only once before have I seen that and it was from a young very pissed off Ardat-Yakshi." Izahm looks over at the child and says in a whisper as well, "What happened exactly?" Niniah glances over at the child before saying in that same hushed whisper, "She became so angry that she focused her biotic into her hand slammed it into one of the Asari attendants trying to subdue her then released the biotics," she suddenly shivered at the memory, "This child is clearly an Ardat-Yakshi and with a facility this big i'd venture to guess that there are more like her in the facility. The reason there are no bodies so far is because they are all being held in the central chamber for later feeding or judging by her appearance more than likely piled like cordwood in the central chamber nothing more than lifeless husks drained of all their vitality."
"Good God," Izahm says breathing in a shuddering breath at the gravity of the situation and the atrocities committed here, "How did they get here in the first place?" Niniah shrugs and says, "This architecture is ancient, probably the bare beginnings of the space age for my people. It is likely that they were as Ardat-Yakshi put in sleeping pods and sealed within the very deepest reaches of this structure. The Blue Suns mistaking the power source for their pods as an eezo deposit or mass effect core dug into the chamber and probably turned off the power source to figure out what it was. Then after a few days the sleeping Ardat-Yakshi woke up and fed on the Blue Suns closest to them then went to the surface probably massacring the Eclipse and Blue Suns alike." "Um Nin I think we should run," Izahm says looking behind him to see five emaciated Asari girls with predatory looks on their youngish faces, "We have company." Niniah looks past him and sees the five Asari children and starts backing up her Disciple held in the Asari's direction as she does, "Back up slowly and keep your gun trained on them." Izahm does as she says slowly backing off. He glances back to see how far away the shuttle is then looks back almost shuddering as there are now ten children standing beside the original five all with that same predatory look. Then those ten are joined by five more stepping out of the surrounding shadows like wraiths. "Okay Nin I'm going to fire off my Revenant you run for the shuttle and start it up then I'm going to run after you okay," Izahm says softly when he feels Niniah stop, "No you give me your Revenant and you take my Disciple, then I'm going to keep them busy while you get to the shuttle and start it up okay." Izahm is about to protest when Niniah shoves her Disciple into his hands and while he's stunned from her sudden actions takes his Revenant, "Now go!" she says giving him a push in the shuttles direction. He glances at her seeing a very determined look in her face and stows the Disciple sprinting for the shuttle as he hears the staccato fire of his Revenant start up. He reaches the shuttle and turns to see if Niniah is okay only to see her desperately trying to fend off a horde of emaciated Asari all clawing for her their bodies aglow with amped up biotics. "Niniah!" Izahm yells as she mows down a whole row of Ardat-Yakshi while half running half walking backwards. Every so often she stops and throws several children back but he notices that she doesn't use a flare. 'Duh it would take to long to charge,' he thinks before Niniah is again pushed back by new wave of Ardat-Yakshi. "Niniah hurry!" he yells, "They're getting closer!" "I know but they just keep deflecting the rounds with their fields," she shouts back. Suddenly one of the children breaks through the hailstorm of rounds and latches onto Niniah's leg dragging her down. As the horde of Ardat-Yakshi descend on the now downed Niniah he sprints for her using his throws with abandon not caring how damaging that could be to his own person. He clears a path for a moment watching in horror as several Ardat-Yakshi latch onto Niniah and begin rapidly draining her life away. At the sight of that something within Izahm breaks and he screams out, "NINIAH!!" While an immense surge of biotic power flows through him then out of him in one massive wave shortly after which he loses consciousness.
