Eternities
"Niniah!" Izahm shouts bolting upright in a panic. He feels something tugging at his arm and when he looks down to see what it is he finds an IV stuck into it, "The hell?" he then looks around to find himself in a hospital wardroom hooked up to several machines including a medi gel IV leading to his arm. "Oh you're awake," a voice says from off to the side. He whips around to see who was speaking. Standing in the doorway is a nurse holding a new medi gel dispenser for his IV. "Where am I and where's Niniah," he says words laced in steel, "Answer me!" She jumps at his tone but says, "Sir she is fine a little weak though are you sure you're okay?" He looks quizzically at her saying, "Why the hell would I not be okay?" "Well the implant and amp surgery anesthetics were supposed to last for a few more days," the nurse replies, "Your amps were completely destroyed and your implant was fried as well, it was a miracle you're alive right now?" "What happened down there?" Izahm asks laying back down, "All I remember is this surge of biotic energy coming form deep inside and then it all rushed out of me. Kinda like Niniah looks like when she flares." "Well sir the team that extracted you and the Asari said they found you a the center of what looked like an explosives crater. They also said the whole reason they came down at all was because their sensors picked up an energy reading equal to a small mass effect core going critical," the nurse says cautiously still a little frightened of him. "Damn it is a miracle I made it out alive," Izahm says closing his eyes, "When can I be released?" After a while the nurse replies, "In a few days, we still need to make sure that the amps and implant aren't rejected." "Alright I'll be good until then," Izahm says while already thinking of how he was going to get out to see Niniah, "Just turn off the lights as you leave it's what woke me up." The nurse nods and shuts the lights off and as soon as she is gone Izahm sits up and swings his feet over the edge preparing to stand up when his vision suddenly blurs and his head feels like it's both trying to implode and explode while being incinerated. "GAAAAHHH!!" he gasps falling back in pain, "Whoa she wasn't kidding when she said I should wait." He sighs then gets comfortable resigning himself to several days of nothing but much needed sleep and hot food.
"Good, good now throw that crate over there," the Asari doctor says as Izahm raises his arm and performs a throw on said crate sending it flying. "How's that?" Izahm says his tone neutral bored out of his mind. As soon as he was cleared to leave the bed they had him in here training and making sure the amps and implant were okay he had had no free time to go see Niniah which infuriated him but he stuck with it knowing the faster he did this the faster he could see her. "That was very good," the doctor says typing commands into her Omni-tool, "That should be all for now your amps look like they have no rejection and the implant is performing flawlessly." Izahm then says, "Am I free to go now?" The doctor nods and says, "Yes we'll release you tomorrow, meantime I heard that you wanted to see the Asari Justicar we have here?" "Yes very much so," Izahm says, "Which room." "Room 227," the doctor says, "I hope we never have to see you again, at least not in the condition you came in again." Izahm nods and says, "Me too, me too."
Niniah's room was easy to find actually going in was harder but Izahm steeled himself like he does in combat during his war journalist days and walks in. "Welcome," she says seeing that it's him, "I was wondering when they would let you visit me." Her ever present calm tone both infuriating and endearing, "Yeah I think my harping finally got to them. S how are you?" "Well the doctors said when the Arsat-Yakshi drained my vitality some of my amps overloaded so I'm not 100%," Niniah says, "They said I can use all my biotics except my flare, the strain is hard even when I'm 100% let alone now." Izahm stares at her, "So no more flaring? Until when?" "About a year," Niniah says casually but the set of her shoulders and the clenched hands betray her suppressed fear and anger. "Don't worry I'll visit every day I can," Izahm says, "So what about your crusade?" "About that," she says looking him straight in the eyes, "I would like you to take my Disciple and use it on your adventures. Finish my crusade for me." Izahm leans back a little shocked, "But why?" "Come closer and I'll show you," she says her usual calm cool tone replaced by one strained with emotions. Izahm gets ups and kneels close to her, she suddenly grabs either side of his head and puts her forehead to hers and says, "Izahm Kanokah embrace my eternity." For a second there was a rush of vertigo then darkness then all of a sudden a flood of emotions roiled through him. All the suppressed love and admiration Niniah had felt for him comes rushing into him in that moment. Just as suddenly as it happened it was gone yet when she released him and he tried accessing his memories the feelings and emotions where there. "Wow," he says simply. "Now my Disciple should still be in the shuttle use it well Izzy," she says a smile no longer the ghost of one adorns her face, "I'll keep you in my prayers and remember meditating actually helps it's not just some mystical thing we do." Izahm nods then leaves the hotel going to his shuttle where sure enough her Disciple is there in it's case, "Alright Niniah I'll use it to the best of my abilities." He opens the case and takes out the weapon reverently admiring it. he holds it up and finds that even for a Disciple it' exceptionally light. He then folds it and stows it on his back. He then moves to the Cockpit and takes off, "I'll come back Nin I promise." Once in space he finds a nearby ship and after a little bit of negotiating gets a berth with said ship.
