Ship Name: Xiphos (previously the "Okinawa")
Ship Class: Infiltration-class Cerberus Strike Ship
Affiliation: Cerberus 1st Fleet
VI: Advanced Military Assault and Defense Assist- “Amanda”
Dimensions:
Length- 140m
Width- 47m
Height- 34m
Defenses:
Silaris Heavy Hull Armor- Due to the reduced size of the craft relative to the Normandy, the thickness of this armor is reduced. However, it still offers superior protection as compared to conventional armor.
Ablative Armor- An interior layer of armor which will boil away prior to allowing enemy fire to harm the internal hull of the craft.
Multicore Cyclonic Barrier Technology- This shielding allows the vessel to swat aside incoming attacks rather than deflect them with brute-force. The vessel is able to stand up to significantly greater stresses during the opening of an engagement and to persist longer than a typical shield array. Should the system become damaged, it reverts to a traditional array to prevent loss of coverage.
Stealth System- The vessel is equipped with stealth systems comparable to those installed onboard the Normandy SR-1 and SR-2.
Weapons:
Disruptor Torpedoes- The traditional armament of the frigate class, these short-range weapons can be particularly effective against heavy craft, allowing, of course, that the vessel is able to close the distance.
Javelin Torpedoes- A single firing pair of these advanced torpedoes has been installed on the Xiphos for particularly-well-defended targets.
Thanix Light Cannon- A single Thanix light cannon has been installed on the Xiphos. Though unpaired and able to deal only 65% of the yield of a single Thanix cannon installed on the Normandy SR-2, this weapon gives the Xiphos combat viability against light cruisers.
GARDIAN- This system of high-energy laser turrets provides comprehensive defense against fighter craft and incoming projectiles. Extremely accurate at the outset of combat, these weapons are prone to overheating and loss of accuracy during prolonged engagements.
Sensors:
Active Array- Radar and Ladar systems allow for detailed analysis of both the theatre of engagement and any threats therein.
Passive Array- Visual, thermographic, and radiographic sensors allow the crew to gather a great deal of information regarding local phenomena, troop deployments, and other craft/installations.
Intelligence Array- Grouped separately by the ship’s construction crew, this array is specialized for tapping in to communications of enemy craft or installations. Note that this device is not sensitive enough to pick up most troop-to-troop ground communications or inter-ship communications during combat scenarios.
Engines:
FTL Drive Core- The Xiphos is equipped with an efficient FTL drive core which is competitive with military interceptors.
Fusion Torch Drive- The sub-light drive of the Xiphos, while fast, is slower to accelerate than some other vessels of its class, due to the ship’s higher-than-usual mass for a ship of its size. Its maneuverability, however, is not impaired.
Description:
The Xiphos is an advanced Cerberus frigate designed for speed and stealth over combat viability. Its primary role is to deliver elite ground assault teams against monitored or fortified installations. The Xiphos is capable of planetary landing, though its stealth capabilities are lessened in the planetary and nebular atmospheres, as advanced sensors may detect the atmospheric disturbances associated with a large craft moving at high velocity through atmosphere.
The Xiphos also contains the same creature-comforts observed in most elite Cerberus vessels, including real leather seats, a gourmet kitchen, and facilities for the crew’s relaxation and entertainment.
Legend:
Arrow + S- Stairway- Actually a ramp, these areas are environmentally sealed at the top and bottom, preventing the entire ship from decompressing in case of a hull breach to a single level. If the arrow points to the right, it goes down to the next lower deck. If pointing left, it goes to the next upper deck.
#1- Cockpit: Much like the Normandy SR-2, this cockpit has an open view to space, with the pilot’s seat forward and center, with a co-pilot’s seat to each side.
#2- Airlocks- Much like the SR-1’s airlocks, these allow for decontamination between visiting other ships or stations.
#3- Walkway
#4- Weapon’s stations/Escape pod access- These areas contain lowered (relative to the walkway) workstations for the frigate’s operations, as well as access to escape pods.
#5- Main Operations/CNC- This area contains stations for the command of the frigate, as well as the galaxy map.
#6- Elevator
#7- Mission Critical Lab 1- To be assigned depending on the mission.
#8- Mission Critical Lab 2- To be assigned depending on the mission.
#9- Hallway
#10- Briefing room- This room contains a large, central conference table (which can lower to provide access to a QET comms unit or simply additional room) and a full-wall display system along the rear, curved wall.
#11- Forward weapons bay- This room provides access to most of ship’s offensive weaponry, including warheads and the forward-facing battery.
#12- Mess- This area is reconfigurable for the eating and entertainment needs of the crew.
#12A- Kitchen- This area comes equipped with refrigeration, deep freeze, stasis, and cooking appliances.
#13- Additional storage- Primarily used for additional foodstuffs.
#14- Bathrooms- Each is equipped with at least one stall (or more, as shown) and a sink.
#15- Hallway- This hallway includes lockers against the starboard wall, as well as access to additional escape pods.
#16- Crew lounge- Fully-stocked bar along the rear wall. Port wall has access to starscape when blast shields are not lowered. This area can be reconfigured with additional seating, holographic projectors, poker tables, and etc as necessary to maintain crew morale.
#17- Bunks. These are equipped with sleeping pods for the ship’s crew and ground assault team.
#18- Showers- These utilize sonic and mass effect field technology to decontaminate crew members without wasting water.
#19- Hallway- This hallway provides a look out on the shuttle-bay below.
#20- Ships computer- This room contains a number of ships electronics, including the computer core, onboard servers, and others. The doorways are equipped with a specialized field to eliminate static electrical buildup on entry.
#21- Life support
#22- Main engineering-This area contains a number of workstations and vital pieces of ship’s technology.
#23- Mass effect core- Most of this area is occupied by the mass effect core, however there is a small workstation to the fore of the area, facing the core itself (as well as additional workstations on the fore wall).
#24- Shuttle bay/Storage- This area contains space for as many as two shuttles to be docked. It contains mounting devices and an internal crane, which can allow for storage of additional cargo or craft temporarily.
#25- Hallway
#26- Medical/Surgical bay- This area has been located on the lowest deck to accommodate for the most common injuries on a starship of this class, injured marines returning from ground combat. It is fully stocked, equipped with robotic-assist units, and outfitted with multiple bio-beds, which can be quickly converted to stasis units.
#27- Armory/Combat Simulator- This area can be easily reconfigured based on mission requirements. The aft section of the room contains an advanced holographic simulator for sparring and light-weapons testing. This area is reinforced to allow for emergency bomb disposal and heavy weapons testing, though neither are recommended.
#28- Additional storage- Note that this area is not full-height, being situated under the radiation shielding for the mass effect core.
