Hello everyone,
So, if all goes according to plan, we're going to end up with a nice, new, pretty ship. I don't figure that everyone's going to be super excited about the Okinawa's name (in fact, I kind of picked it so that the characters we have could come up with their own name for her). That said, feel free to throw around names here so that we're not just doing it all when the time comes in the chapter. If there are a few ideas that people are really split between, we'll make a poll too. I hope to have the specifics of the ship up soon too.
Sincerely, Co-GM Maelstrom

Hey, isn't there an old superstition that says it's bad luck to rename a ship...? Whoops - nevermind. Forgot what our game is and its penchant for events going sideways. Carry on How about Defiant?

Well, it worked in Star Trek IV and in DS9.

My suggestions: Tyr (Norse god of war and justice) or Mjolnir.

As much as some of our characters in the game are nerds, we should probably still stay away from Enterprise and Defiant. lol
"Rogue Shadow?" "The Force" (may it be with us always)? Going with mythology, there's "Myrmidon." Two other options that I mention only due to our group's apparent proclivity towards leaving behind mushroom clouds are "Little Boy" and "Fat Man."

Of course, Thrak would like "Badass Mother Fu..." well, you get the idea. Not what I'd go for myself.

I like the idea of naming it after a weapon. Eitber a specific weapon such as Mjölnir or Excaliber, or a type of weapon such as Scimitar or Katana.
Actually I really like The Katana. Mjolnir is really good too, but strikes me more as a dreadnaught than a small frigate.

We could also go with, The Sir Isaac Newton.
Because he's the deadliest sonovabitch in space.

Middle Finger? It's from The Forever War, a pillar of military SF.

If were naming after blade types how about the Xiphos, it's a greek shortsword carried by the Spartans.

We've got a good mix of names here. Once we're done with the mission, I'll probably set up a poll (and I'll see if I can find a way to allow multiple answers). Then we'll have the most popular name take it.
I have a good feeling about "Middle Finger" lol

I had a thought about another change that should be made to the ship: a new paint job.
I imagine flying around in a ship with the Cerberus logo is going to attract some unwanted attention, so at the very least that would need to be removed before the team starts galavanting around the galaxy; the last thing they want is to get blown out of the sky by the very people they're trying to help.

I was thinking matte black. It never made sense to me that a stealth ship was painted a color that shows up so well in deep space.
Also, the Shadow Broker's new ship should be shadowy.

Is this something we should play out or should it just happen "off screen"?
I'm thinking this is something to be done by someone who lives off the grid and doesn't give a hoot about galactic politics. I was thinking the Broker, but I'm also concerned about going to him for help over something that is quite mundane.
Also, depending on how long it takes, that may leave us with some down time; maybe a short mission in the meantime?

We could take it to the Quarians. Izahm is connected wwith them and the group has a Quarian engineer on staff too.

Do keep in mind that this is a ship that we just stole for the Shadow Broker, and that it was not quite finished having everything bolted down. While I think it would make the most sense to happen "off screen," I figured that it would be at a facility largely run by the Broker (or one of her agents, kind of like how Barla Von did "legitimate" business in addition to working for the Broker).
