Hello Everyone,
So, it's been about a week since Andromeda came out. I'm curious to hear everyone's impressions. That said, I haven't beaten the game yet (I've been spending a lot of time traveling and with family), so please, no spoilers.
Sincerely, Co-GM Maelstrom

I like the new multi-ability system. It really opens up combat options and tactics, but you still have the old class archetypes in the profiles you unlock. I do like the new vehicle too and the maps are a lot bigger than anything previous.

I think that my two biggest gripes so far are these.
1. The control system is less intuitive and allows for less precision control of one's character (I can't be standing by a wall with my weapon out and not be in cover, and etc).
2. Everyone's cool with the idea of taking credits. A civilization that had a whole different economy says, "Yeah. Sure. Abstract numbers seem like a good trade for these super rare assault weapons that my people also need to fight the enemy." Even the whole thing of survivors barely getting the resources necessary to survive being like, "You have enough credits? Yeah! I can totally eat those and burn them to keep me warm at night. Nothing hydrates like credits!" It makes complete sense in the Milky Way, but in Andromeda, it's kind of stupid.
That said, I'm enjoying the characters, graphics, maps, and narrative. Not super thrilled with some of the bugs, but they're not game-breaking to me either.

Just picked up a rental copy through RedBox and will pretty much lock myself in my room for the entire weekend.

You won't be done by the end of a weekend, unless there's no sleeping in your future.

Not trying to beat it, just want to get a feel for it and decide whether it's worth buying or not.

Well, I haven't run into any of the crippling glitches other people talk about. I'm playing on Xbox One.

After hearing word from reviews and other players (my intent after getting burned by the horrible writing in 3), I think I'm good waiting untill this one hits the $20 range, especially since my work/family life doesn't really cooperate with me playing many M-rated titles anymore.

Yeah, early on in the game, there isn't much to earn an M rating, but once you get to finding out the secrets of the kett and you are interacting more with the exiles, it might be more than you want the girls seeing/hearing.

So I just learned the reason behind the Andromeda Initiative and IMO it is absolutely brilliant from a storytelling perspective. For me that had been a major strike against it; what was the point of travelling to Andromeda? But now that I know, it makes perfect sense.
I'm not done with my initial playthrough so I don't have an opinion on the overall game but that particular aspect of it is perfect.

Okay, I completed my initial playthrough and overall it wasn't bad.
Looking back, there were some glitches that prevented me from completing missions and some missions which I found to be virtually impossible (mostly because they would have involved me slogging over every inch of a planet) but that didn't take away from what I thought was a good game. It has left open the possibility for more adventures in the Andromeda system, and should a sequel be released I would be highly interested in getting it.
I won't get into much further detail out of respect for anyone who hasn't played it. If anyone wants to know more contact me privately.

I agree. One of my biggest gripes, if you can call it that, is that you could level up so much that you had a bunch of extra points going to waste for your squad.

I have to admit, if we weren't running this campaign, I'd suggest we start one up in Andromeda. I think that is a place wide open for all kinds of stories to be told, the only question would be which one to pick.

Since they're still building the series, I'd be REALLY hesitant to do that, because I wouldn't want to run into something that's directly contradicted later on. If we ever wrap this up, though, I imagine the Andromeda series would be over, and I'd be happy to jump on it.
That said, I have some ideas for how this game might carry on past ME3, if people would be interested once we reach that point.

Oh, when you complete your romance options, certain characters work hard for that M rating.
