So I watched "Force Awakens" in honor of it being May 4th and as I watched several thoughts occurred to me.
1) Han had all of the best lines (though Finn's response to Kylo's demand for the lightsaber was pretty good).
2) One of the major questions I had about the movie was when Rey pulled the Jedi mind trick on the stormtrooper (JB-007, as played by Daniel Craig in an uncredited cameo). My question was, "How did she know how to do it?" and now I have a theory. In the scene between her and Kylo, he tried it on her to make her reveal the final piece of the map to Luke's location but failed because she was so strong in the Force. I think she realized that and that is what led her to do it on the stormtrooper.
3) I heard that one of the big knocks against Kylo was that he was so emotional, and I have a theory on that as well. At the end, Snoke tells General Hux to bring Kylo to him so he can complete his training, which obviously means that it is incomplete. Now think back to both Anakin and Luke. While they may have been trained in the Force, they were still not in control of their emotions; that did not come until later. So it is entirely plausible that his control is far from in place and that his outbursts are entirely in keeping with his character at the time. I expect when he reappears his control will be better.

I just really dislike the movie. It was mostly the same plot as Episode IV, except they completely failed to create and intimidating and compelling villain and they at the same time made a laughably overpowered protagonist.

I totally agree with point 2. That's exactly how I saw it.
I also agree with Maelstrom in that they reoeated the same plat and had a whiny little toddler for a villian and an OP protagonist.
I will say that they did a great job of capturing the feel of the original trilogy though, recapped plot and other faults aside, it *felt* like Star Wars to me, which was like a breath of fresh air after the prequels.
