I was thinking of 3 humans
Adams: Black female
Daniels: Asian male
Donnelly: Hispanic female; chief engineer
Is this okay, or am I trying to be too clever?

Heh... we could just call them Bob, Bobby, and Bobbette. That'll make it even easier

Given that it's a turian ship, there should be at least one turian among them. Ideally someone who's served on this class of ship in combat before.

Okay, so far we have: Adams: Black female Daniels: Asian male Donnelly: Hispanic female; chief engineer ??: Turian We need a name for the Turian. We'll also need a name for the pilot and one more generic crew member like Adams and Daniels. I want to have them before lift off, if possible

Suggestion- We should name the pilot Thomas Torrez. Or "Tom" for short.
Question- What's the role of the other crew member?

I don't have a name for the Turian, but IMO, I think he should be at the weapons station (if there is one).
As for the role of the other crew member, my thoughts are: navigator, cook, medic, co-pilot, yeoman, gofer, redshirt cannon fodder

Well, I asked about the other crew member because I was expecting them to be something like a gunnery officer. My thinking about a turian engineer was that we could have someone on-board who could pull off miracle work, but the kind that would only last a short time. I'm thinking of it kind of like a combat medic. If the turian served on a turian frigate during active combat duty, he probably knows some quick fixes that most engineers would never think of or would reject offhand. The sort of thing you only do when your back is against the wall and it's your only way to live. That kind of crew member might even be able to teach a quarian a thing or two that they could take back to the fleet.
