"I've got a lockpick on me..." Maelstrom approached the locked access door and brought out a series of sticky grenades from his suit, placing them on the door surface. Eric took cover and signed at his teammates to do likewise before the man in black armor set off his explosives via his omni-tool. A length of plasma det cord would have cut a far neater hole but Maelstrom’s demolition work cleared a path to Joe, Izahm and the heart of the geth infestation. Meldom engaged his cloak and vanished inside with the rest of the team following.
Izahm was in cover with Joe, alternating between checking on the injured N7 and looking for an opportunity to attack the partially assembled geth juggernaut that was still more than a match for them. Maelstrom used his biotics to hurl a concussion grenade at it but was parried by a burst of plasma energy from one of its arms. Next Marcius laid down a volley of gunfire with his Punisher pistol, trying to weaken or damage the few protective plates the juggernaut had only to be chased and pushed into cover by another energy bolt. Joe then suddenly sprang upright and spent a thermal clip’s worth of blasts from his Crusader. The geth immediately prepared a response as the junior N7 changed out his shotgun’s spent clip.
“THE HEART! TARGET THE GODDAMN HEART!” he shouted.
The juggernaut hurled a spherical device towards Joe.
“GRENADE!”
Eric hid behind a nearby bulkhead as the device went off. Moments later, he peered out and took a head count. Everyone (assuming Meldom’s absence was due only to his cloaking device) was still in the fight. Joe however was on the floor motionless. While the mercenaries kept the geth occupied Eric scurried over and dragged Joe back beside Izham.
Naetilia, you got yourself your first customer…
Eric studied the juggernaut from cover. His impetuous friend’s last statement was correct: what looked like the main power core for the machine was exposed. However its offensive capability needed to be stopped or momentarily delayed before a killing blow could be attempted. The senior N7 drew his Phalanx and targeted the plasma-throwing arm, landing three cryo rounds in its shoulder. A following concussive round knocked it from its hinge. Yet the juggernaut had one good arm left which it used to hurl another explosive sphere. Eric dived to cover as it exploded, the shockwave pushing him into an awkward somersault and on to the floor. Eric quickly pulled off his jacket, peppered with burning shrapnel, and recovered his Phalanx and two EMP grenades before returning to Joe’s position. As he held them in his hands he recalled that Marcius was also given two EMPs.
Perhaps it would be good throwing arms rather than crack shots that could win this fight…

Meldom had managed to sneak around the room for the most part, at the start he made a few bumps where he had to dodge some stray fire or the flashbang grenade effect flared up, for the most part he managed to make his way across. About half way the grenade almost caught him off guard but he managed to dive out of the way,out of the radius of the explosion. Moving softly he made his way behind the Juggernaut and surveyed for weak points, making a calculated guess he assumed where the heart would be that Joe shouted to target.
A flash of orange appeared almost hovering as a blade formed and lunged at the Geth, Before its sensors could relay the information to itself Meldom had pierced its Armour from behind, not knowing if the hit was on mark. The Geth seemed to let out a robotic scream before grabbing Meldom from behind and flipping him over while his cloak was active, A loud thud was heard and the cloaked Salarian was revealed with a slight groan.
It attempted to stomp on Meldom but he rolled out the way just in time and avoid being crushed and scrambled to his feet in a ducked position away from the Geth "Well that almost worked"

Esteban watched the external sensors on his custom omnitool nervously, monitoring Tom's efforts at piloting the shuttle away from a collision with what would be certain death. External hull temperature was rising fast, but finally started leveling out. Esteban knew that could only mean Tom redirected the Valiant. They were not out of hot water yet, but they were safer. Plus, the ablative armor that Esteban recently reinstalled was doing its job nicely keeping the ship from boiling away into space.
He pursed his lips, thinking for a moment. It looked like the Valiant was safe. He purged the system as much as he could, leaving the mop up to the ship's hired engineer. Esteban sighed in relief and pushed off the metal grating of the jeffrey's tube with his elbows, flipping himself over onto his hands and knees...
And he began to crawl his way out.
Past the dangling wires form exposed conduits.
Past T-intersections
Past branching pathways.
Past power junctures glowing a pleasant orange.
Past security measures he put in place virtually everywhere.
He crawled and crawled until he came to a stop at the exit, a closed rectangular hatch. Esteban pressed his palm against it and pushed, popping the hatch open. Light spilled in as Esteban emerged out, getting to his feet as quickly as he could. He saw he was in the engineering section, right next to the drive core of the ship. After quickly taking in the surroundings and arching his back to stretch, he tapped his ear to activate his secondary comm channel to the team at large.
"How is the Geth situation?" he inquired. "Everything is taken care of on my end."

Eric placed his grenades on the floor beside him, took up his Phalanx pistol again and engaged his translator/comm earpiece. “One geth juggernaut puttin’ up a helluva fight, B- Man! So it’s just it and all of us. Joe’s out cold but he managed to expose its core. Sure could use another hand in tryin’ ta land a hit on it!”

[Sorry for the delay. It's been a rough, rough week. I found out that a good friend of mine passed away a couple days ago, I'm doing the work of three of my coworkers who are all on vacation... and that's the tip of the iceberg.]
Esteban stopped at one of Valiant holographic interfaces, swiping his hand across the screen to find the ship's internal sensors to monitor the ongoing battle. An idea was starting to form...
"I am going to try to assist from here," the Engineer said cautiously, chewing his lower lip as he minimized the camera feed on the Juggernaut.
"The exposed core is the key. If I am right, I can use the ship's secondary electrical systems to temporarily overload the Geth..."
Esteban worked quickly, opening up the ship's power regulation control. "This will disable the Geth for maybe three seconds, at most.... do you have the ordinance to destroy it?"
[insert response, I'm assuming the answer will be a yes]
"Good.... I am sending the electric pulse in 5...."
He shut down the failsafe, rerouting excess power all throughout the ship towards the battle room...
"4....."
A warning light flashed across the screen. Esteban ignored it....
"3....."
Electricity crackled in the air, giving the Geth a nimbus of lightning and fire...
"2....."
He said a quiet prayer to whatever might be listening that this would work...
"1...."

[Quick GM Note]
- The combined damage done by the PCs hurt the proto-Juggernaut greatly. The Overload built off that, disabling the Geth for three seconds.
Battle Rules - Destroy the Geth - Let's do this in heroic fashion. - While one PC should not be able to destroy the entire Geth, let's let each PC take out a part of the Geth. - That means, your move should be able to destroy the legs, arms, upper body, head, etc... - With the last PC, the Geth will be destroyed and then a wrap-up can be written - Which means, we move onto Chapter 17

Eric’s employer hit upon an idea. "The exposed core is the key. If I am right, I can use the ship's secondary electrical systems to temporarily overload the Geth... this will disable the Geth for maybe three seconds, at most.... do you have the ordinance to destroy it?" The wily N7 eyed his grenades and sidearm. “… damn straight, I do!”
"Good.... I am sending the electric pulse in 5...."
Eric set his Phalanx for standard rounds. If Esteban’s scheme worked EMP grenades would not be necessary.
"4....."
Eric radioed his teammates. “Guys, get yer Sunday Punches ready ‘cuz this bitch’s goin’ down in-“
"3....."
Tendrils of electricity arced about the Geth juggernaut which it ignored until the charge increased.
"2....."
Eric rested his elbows on the bulkhead he, Joe and Izahm were behind. His head low, the blue targeting laser on his pistol locking on to the robot’s optic.
"1...."
Eric squeezed off two rounds.
“TAKE IT DOWWN!!!”

Post by Joe Fischer on Jul 22, 2015 16:51:14 GMT -6
Joe woke up from the dream, and it was all he could do to keep from screaming. He sat up, leaning back against a packing crate.
[AUTHOR NOTE: See "Joe Fischer: Dream" in Character Stories section for details.]
There was the sound of gunfire and explosions, and he looked over to see Lysander a few feet away, aiming a Phalanx heavy pistol at something.
Damn thing is still alive, he thought, and for some reason he found this highly amusing. He would have laughed, but he couldn’t find the strength.
He peeked around the corner of the crate to see the geth for himself. It had lost an arm, and there were some more bullet holes in its skeleton, but otherwise it was still fighting.
Damn pussies, he thought, and that too struck him as immensely funny. Can’t do a damn thing without me…
He struggled to get up, but his wounded arm and leg resisted, shooting pain throughout his body to let him know his current course of action was a bad idea.
No, he thought. Not going to let them pay for my mistake.
Using his Crusader for leverage, he gritted his teeth and forced himself up.
“Stand aside, Pops,” he said to the senior N7. “Let me show you how it’s done.”
The geth was focused on taking out one of the team members, so its attention was not on him, giving him time to line up his shotgun on the metal monster’s heart.
The dark thing cheered as he squeezed the trigger.
But at that moment, whether it was through awareness, luck or infernal intervention, the geth turned slightly, and the shot missed the heart by inches.
The attack drew its attention, and it turned towards him, raising the Collector assault rifle as it did so. A quick glance showed that Lysander could just as easily be targeted as him.
No way, the only person dying for my mistake is me…
It was more a lurch than the powerful lunge he had hoped for, but he still managed to push the senior N7 out of the line of fire.
As the rifle barrel lined up on his chest, he only felt relief that he would no longer have to deal with the dream.

Maelstrom pushed himself back to his feet and, after getting to cover, rolled his shoulder a couple times. It was sore, but there was none of the sharp, almost blinding pain that would have come with a dislocation. The armor did its job well.
He grabbed another concussion grenade, though he decided not to prime. Peaking out from cover, he saw that the team was doing a number on the unit, having uncovered its core. He knew a concussion grenade would not do much against something as sturdily-built as the central power unit, though. That required more penetrating power. For a moment, he considered his sidearm, but the others seemed to have guns covered.
Then he heard Lysander “Guys, get yer Sunday Punches ready ‘cuz this bitch’s goin’ down in- 3..... 2..... 1..... TAKE IT DOWWN!!!”
Lysander's words Gave Maelstrom an idea. Rising up, Maelstrom took a swing in the direction of the stunned droid, a correspondingly-powerful biotic punch throwing one of its arms wide to the side. He followed with the concussion grenade, aiming it between the body and the arm. As desired, the blast severed the gun-wielding arm from the rest of the machine's body.
Looking over, he saw Lysander and Fischer sprawled on the floor, Fischer having apparently tackled the superior just as the stun hit.

With the heart exposed and the mech stunned, Maricus sighted his pistol in on the heart of the beast again, quickly firing off a number of shots. Each landed dead on the money for where he was aiming, but the assaults from the other team members kept causing the behemoth to jerk this way and that. As such, his bullets impacted all around the heart, severing power conduits. Several times, his shots were met with secondary explosions elsewhere, knocking armor plates loose or entirely off, making the creature much more vulnerable. When his heat sink was spent, he rolled back to cover to change it out.
He preferred the days when ammunition was unlimited.
A smirk crossed his face. He might not have taken out the core, but he suspected that with that many of the conduits out of commission, the giant robot would be struggling to maintain power to all its systems. It would be bleeding out, and that would make it easier to kill.
Popping back up, he found that it now had no arms, and he continued firing away at the beast's heart and other exposed systems.

Good idea Bridges, Izahm thinks swapping out his Disciple for his Widow. He inhales then exhales several times calming his body, then when he felt calmest he popped over his cover sighted the Juggernauts 'flashlight' head and fired once then after a quick breath once more with only a second between shots the head flying off in a spray of mechanical fluids sparks as Izahm shouts, "EAT LEAD YOU PIECE OF TIN!!" as he goes back behind cover reloading the Widow as he does.
He pops back out to see what else he can shoot when Maelstrom using his unique style of combat takes of the remaining arm. Having another idea and now that he won't face a back hand he stows the Widow and vaults over the cover he was sharing with Lysander and Joe and charges at the Juggernaut sprinting at his full speed.
Just before Impact he flicks on his shield and activating all his biotic amps sends a flare at the Juggernaut before rolling back and coming up Omni-shield ready.

“Stand aside, Pops. Let me show you how it’s done.” Joe was on his feet again next to Eric, lining up a shot on the geth juggernaut. Another miracle of adrenaline, Eric mused to himself. Joe’s volley failed to connect with the juggernaut’s core. The enemy aimed its rifle at the N7s and responded.
Before Eric could react he found himself face down on the floor, pushed out of the line of fire by his younger subordinate. It took a few seconds to get his bearings, disoriented by the sounds of his teammates each launching their attacks followed by clanging and sparking sounds. Esteban’s stun attack gave them the opening they desperately needed and now the last of the geth intruders was being taken apart bolt by bolt. If Joe was knocked out again or worse, he did not yet know. If he was still alive though, it would take more than acts of self-sacrifice to account for purposefully tampering with dangerous technology.
You think the geth are bad, Joe… wait’ll I get through with you…

[GM Post]
The combined assault devastates the incomplete geth, reducing it to a pile of twisted and broken scrap. Some of the crew lies motionless on the deck, but no one is fatally injured. While severe, Joe's injuries are well within Naetilia's skills.
